Default Repainting BDR354 Question

I am thinking about having my BDR repainted. To get the best paint job and not have to worry about overspray and such, I want to take the body off of the car. Has anybody done this or have any advise? Can the body be pulled off the car without taking the engine out? What wiring would need to be removed?
Am I going about this the wrong way and should just have the car repainted with the body and chassis together?

Unless you are having he car painted by the local high school auto shop class I would think any professional painter will "mask off" the areas not to get paint.
You could pull off the hood, trunk, doors, side pipes, side vents, roll bar('s),windshied, quick jacks, and all lighting. Of all those mentioned the windshield is the most important.

Default Painting BDR354?'s

Hey Mark, May I ask why repainting is necessary? Any defect's,chip's or over spray issue's. I have talked to a local painter about having the clear coat re-sprayed....My clear coat looks smokey...The car is always garaged and I have always hand washed and dried. Snakester BDR261

The reason that I would like to repaint the car is it's just not as nice as I would like it to be. It has fish eyes in the paint and has some spider cracks that have started on the door. The black stripes also have sanding scratches that cannot be buffed out. Don't get me wrong, the paint looks great outside but its just not as nice as I feel a Cobra should be. Plus I am really particular about paint jobs.

If you have fish eyes and some spider cracks you need more than a simple repaint. The involved areas will need to be completely taken down to bare glass and re-prepped. Spider cracks may be in the fiberglas itself rather than only paint film deep. Fish eyes may result for several different factors and persist even through several coats. I agree with JayBar. Leave the body on but remove all the exterior parts and carefully and completely mask off anything that you do not wish to be painted. Personally, I would remove the doors, hood and trunk lid along with all the weatherstripping. The stripping can always be replaced. 3M makes a full line of self-adhesive weather stripping that makes it easy. Finally, a new paint job is only as good as the preparation and the ability of the painter.
