Driveshaft safety hoop
Some time ago I tried to buy a driveshaft safety hoop from California Cobra. At the time Armond had several on hand and said that none of them that he had gotten from Backdraft fit. I forgot about it for a long time, and just realized that I think it is something I probably should have on my car. First, is there one available that truly fits a Backdraft (from Backdraft or another source), and second, is it really necessary?

Skip,
My BDR came with one , but did not fit. It was too small.
I got mine from Reg. It does fit perfectly. I installed it before going to WSCB '06. I had to remove the driveshaft to install it.
It nice to have one just in case the driveshaft decides to let loose. Better safe than sorry.

Reg,
Thanks. I'll call you on Tuesday, if my hangover goes as planned.
Wayne,
Well, if you've got one, I guess I should too!

Good News,
I got a call from Backdraft and they are sending a driveshaft safety loop directly to me. It's not here yet, but I am sure it is on the way!
Another reason to be happy with Backdraft!

More good news,
My driveshaft safety loop arrived on my front porch yesterday. Very fast service and a bonus surprise of a Backdraft Racing hat inside the box.
Side note to those who seem to have problems with e-mails being returned from Reg. No problem on my e-mails, but I would also suggest calling them directly. I got very fast response the last time I called.

Are you going to get Frank to install it or do it yourself? If you use Frank can let me know how it goes.

Skip,
Post a picture when you get it installed. I want to see if it fits better than the one Frank sent to me last year.

jp65,
My plan is to install it myself. But, I want to put it on a lift to make it easier. The low profile jack I was using moved away with my neighbor, so that is out as an alternate. Maybe I can get Frank to let me use his lift? I'll let you know and take pictures if I remember to take the camera.
CSCHWER,
What I received is a half loop to just protect from having the driveshaft going up into the passenger compartment. I know some of the old ones were a complete circle that just didn't fit right. What did you get? I'll take pictures if
possible.

Mine made the full circle, but it was almost too small a diameter and the mounting points on the car did not seem right (front and rear mounting point that would not restrain the drive shaft? IMHO.)
