John, I went by Autoworks International today and saw your car on the lift. It looks like they had the left rear all done and were welding on the right side. I checked out the entire bottom of the car and there is extensive reinforcement all over the place. It should make it very stiff! Lots of plate and crossmembers welded in place.
I know the front end on my car #90 is different from yours, but I don't know at what build # they changed the frame setup. I was going to talk to Matt about it, but he was on the phone with a TV producer about an upcoming show they will be filming there for Chop, Cut and Rebuild (I think that is right?). In any case, I think he could market a chassis upgrade kit for most of our cars. As for added weight, it might be worth it, if the flexing is gone!

JayB -Matt thinks he's added about 80 pounds. The difference in the handling of the car is nothing short of phenominal though. No more "the chassis is the 5th spring"
Jay - this in kind of embarassing but I don't know the exact #, but it's in the first 50 cars. I bought it from Tony and Reg at the 2003 Knotts show. Reg told me the major change after 50 was the front end, which is a good thing.
Skip- It's good to hear from you too. I agree, Matt and Miguel are both stand up guys. I'm sure Matt would love to talk to you if you're at all interested since you have a post 50 chassis number. He's made patterns in CAD and water jetted the parts so he can sell it as a kit. And yes I've seen the '67 Mustang, Obsidian, they took to SEMA - everyone NEEDS a 900 hp twin turbo!

About 130 MPH (indicated) on the front straight. I could go faster but am still working on developing the balls to stay longer on the throttle longer before turn 1. There is no forgiveness if the brakes don't work on that turn.
That straight-a-way is a good example of the gearing problem. I wind out 4th
gear about 120-125 and go into 5th (.68 overdrive). Hard to believe but it feels like the car is lugging. It is to much of a gap between the gear ratio's.
If I had to do it again I would go with a .84 5th gear(TKO 600), or better yet and best choice would be a t-56, 6 speed.
BTW tires are Nitto drag radials all around.

For those that appreciated the track video, here is another one showing quite a few Cobra's at Sebring (short course) at the last Reptile Round-up in November.
I am driving the Mustang SVO my wife drove to the track. Note how the starter lets 5 Cobra's and a race prepped 944 go ahead of the "sedan" so I don't slow them up.

Upgrade time
Ok, I'm taking my BDR, #126 to the track end of March. I want to improve the braking by adding SS lines, drilled and slotted rotors and pads. I have the standard 15" BFG tire/wheel package. Any suggestions on rotors, pads etc. Suggestions so far are Mintex or Pagid pads, no suggestions on the rotors. What size and bolt pattern should I be focusing on? These are pretty simple DIY projects. The front spring are original ones. The slightest bump in the road is felt. From past posts I understand they may have been undersized. Any suggestions there??? Last upgrade will be to LED's in front turn signals and rear brake/turn signal. One of the sockets (plastic) is stripped and I have a loose bulb anyway. Hope to have everything done before the TX Cobra bash in Austin.
Other upgrades I've done are seat belt bezels and wrapped the headers.
