Default Doc I sent you a private message.

Take a look in your in box. I will be taking delivery of a similar car that you are looking for. (It's not for sale, but if you want to see it to make comparisons, let me know). Delivery is in a couple of weeks. The car is at the Boynton Beach facility. Ask for Frank, Reg or Craig to show you the car, or you can contact me later to see it for yourself.

thx deadbeatle......i used to work on Lantana road and live in a townhouse in delray, but now live in Miami. I may take you up on that, or just contact Backdraft. Is it EFI or carburated? I have a few things going on right now with the office and another poperty, so if it was meant to be, it will happen.

Doc, I also live in Miami close to UM. You should also take a look at ERA's. They are an incredible car. The engineering design that went into them is surpassed, in my opinion, only by the Kirhkam's. Every detail received an incredible amount of focus. Their cars weigh out about the same as the other cobra's but their chasis is a little heavier (about 125 lbs more) due to using 3" * 4" square tube; and their body is a little lighter due to some of the aluminum panels. They are as solid as a bank vault. I had the opportunity to drive one last summer and was really impressed. You can buy a painted roller, or a turnkey, or if you want to build it, a kit. Have fun, the cobras are a blast to drive. I had my first one for 20 months, and I put my deposit on my ERA in early January. My painted roller (or turnkey minus) will be ready in a few months. Rick

Rick, funny you should mention the body....im wondering how much the body stays straight on these cars with fiberglass and/or aluminum.

I cant build one....will have to buy it turn key. I live a block away from Sunset Place....pretty close to you. Maybe we can meet one sunday morning.

Doc: It is a carb engine. Send me a message if you are interested. I agree with Rick on the ERA cars. They are well made and I would have considered them too. I lie the idea that after the sale support is close by and the backdraft owners group is growing a social. I also looked at Unique Motorcars and Superformance. I think each manufacturer/builder does different things well. You need to decide what kind of car you want, a period correct recreation or a car that is made in the spirit of the original with modern technology. Each type has it's place and each owner typically gravitates to one or the other. In the end, buy the car you want and one that you will enjoy. I don't turn wrenches either, so local factory/builder support was a deciding factor in my purchase. Good Luck in your search, we welcome all cobra fans.

Default another newbie looking

WOW! When I read that negitive post by Airvolts on the Sarasota dealer I thought I'd come throught the computer. Like Doctodd I was looking for my second Cobra (my first was a Unique) I came to the concusion BACKDRAFT was the way to go. Over the last two years Reg at Backdraft has changed many of the little bugs the car had, thanks to feedback from customers, and inhouse quality control. I like Backdrafts 92" wheelbase, 65" widetrack, and 17" knock offs with F1's. WHO NEEDS TO BE CORRECT!!! If that is your preference buy a Kirkham. I want the best looking car that goes straight, and does not rattle on all four corners. Superformance is a good replica, BUT if you put them side by side it becomes a no-brainer for thousands less.
Back to the Sarasota Dealer "Suncoast Cobra". This dealer has build over 30 Cobras, and in my widest dreams did I ever imagine I would find a dealer as proffessional as father & son Jerry & Jeff. Their two certified wrench's Wayne & Brad are second to none when it come to installation. If you have 25 questions they are always there to help you with courtesy. My car or any customers car will not leave the shop till they are satisfied with the build. Example: I somehow Mr. Anal missed a slight flaw under the winshield. results: It came off, spotted, cleared, perfect. I was concerned about driving my new car home on I-4 (one of the worse in the country) 200 miles to Daytona. No Problem. Delivered to my driveway in a closed trailer with a cover on it. Not only as a satisfied customer Of Suncoast but when you leave the shop you get the sense of feeling you gained new friends. Yes this a testimonial one of which anyone who bought a car from them will tell you the same story. I'm sure NO DOUBT there are many other dealers of the same Caliber, but this one seems to go the extra mile with quality, percision, and building a relationship. Visit their web site http://www.suncoastcobra.com. If you in the Daytona Beach area on visit stop in for a cool one. If your in the market for the best Meatballs, the kind you put on your car e-mail me racerrich@aol.com...

Rich,
Just ask Jeff about the first big block he put into a backdraft and see if he feels like he provided a good srvice to that customer?

i have owned a superformance((sold it)) and yes they are nice cobras. but their rollers are now 41900 and thats way overpriced(my opinion) now in a market flooded with cobras for sale .As for backdraft they are everybit as good as a superformance( i think their paint jobs are better). A buddy of mine has one and really i cant really tell the difference between the superformance and the b-draft.
