Post Backdraft dealership

Is there a dealership for Backdraft Cobras/cobras around Houston, TX? Also I am new to the area and would like to know of any gatherings/get-togethers around this area.

None at this time. I have a customer or two in your area that I could hook you up with if you like.

Default hmmmmm

Seems to me that if you were capable of running a dealership, that you might be smart enough to contact Reg or Frank instead of asking here

Inquiring minds only ask right questions.

I believe he was only asking about a dealership in regards to seeing a Backdraft and buying one... not actually becoming a dealer?

Houston Cobra Club on the Yahoo message boards, we meet the second Saturday of the month. Bring beer, cigars, and a fun loving woman. If you can't come just send the woman, she will be in good hands

DJMaree,

I am from the Killeen-Fort Hood area and am currently deployed to Iraq. I am having BDR#499 built now (it should be ready early next month) and went with Jay and Vintage Motorsports.

Before I made the plunge, I watched this forum for many months...Watching and listening. One thing I came away with was how quickly Jay would jump in to help a car owner (or just someone with a question). He didn't care what brand, or dealership the person may have purchased their car from; if Jay could help, he did. That impressed me.

Just before leaving for Iraq, I made trips to the Seattle and Boston areas. While in Seattle, I visited Park Place and looked at a number of Superformace cars. The guy I delt with at Park Place was pleasant and knowledgeable. The cars were very nice, but as a government employee, would really push the limits of my budget.

While I was in the Boston area, I went to Vintage (about an hour or so from where I was). I got there early Saturday morning before the shop opened, so I went to a fast food place and got a cup of coffee. When I returned the shop was open and three guys were inside with a number of cars. As luck would have it, customer has a Superformance in there with an oil leak, so I got to compare BDR and Superformance, side-by-side.

I started talking with Jay and told him who I was and what I was looking for. There were somethings about the SPF I liked such as the fresh air vents and gages. I asked Jay if I could get the things I wanted in a BDR. Some of the mods I wanted had to be installed in the factory and jay said he would check. Within two days I had my answer, and my mind was made.

All of my transactions with Jay have been handled long-distance from Iraq, from my downpayment, to where we are now. I can say this without reservation: Jay has been the BEST dealer I have ever worked with. He has gone the extra mile to accommodate my special circumstances. If he is this good from 7000 miles away, I can only imagine what he is like if you are down the street from him (I know you are not).

I think we should try to convince him what a good business decision it would be to open a second shop out Texas way!!

Go with Jay and Vintage and you won't be sorry!

Gun Doc

Joeg, Dean,

Thanks to both of you for the offers! Don't know when I may be either place, but I do plan on doing some cruising when I get back and my car arrives. I still have not decided if I'll have the car shipped, or if I'll buy a trailer and go pick it up. I guess I better start thinking about it...

James Yale just announced yesterday that he has become a Backdraft Dealer here in Houston, Texas.

James posts on this site as well as the local Houston Cobra Club forum at Yahoo.

I know he will be glad to talk with you and discuss what options are available.

Thanks,
Barry

DJMaree, sorry I just got to this post. I have busy setting up the new business here in Texas. I am the new BackDraft Racing dealer in the Texas and surrounding area. I'd be happy to show you some BDR cars and explain the details with you.

Many of the ClubCobra members know me as JUS BIT. I have been on the forums for a few years. I have been very involved with the Texas Cobra Club which is a great group you would really like. Also, the Houston group is great! You'll really like the guys and gals. I'll introduce you to them at our next meeting. (5/12)

You may have seen one of my cars in Houston at one of the local car shows or Autorama. Also, you may have recently seen my Daytona Coupe in Kit Car Magazine. I just sold it and it got picked up by the transport today headed for New Jersey. boohoo...

Just give me a call and I'd be happy to help in any way. I can also take you for a test ride if you like.

Thanks for your interest,

James Yale
