Headlight rings
FYI
My car had plastic headlight rings with black gaskets. They never looked great with gaskets showing. Vintage now sells a headlight kit that the rings are metal and the gaskets don't show. See pictures for before and after.
$39.00 from vintage and 10 min on one side to install and a hour on other. Take your time to do them right and they look great. Instructions come with them. Long arms are a requirement when installing.
P.S. No I don't work for vintage but all bonus checks will be cashed

Why does it take 10min on one side and an hour on the other?

rings
drivers side went perfect but passenger side on my car took some adjusting to get it right. You have to take your time. It all depends on your car. I wanted my headlights to be perfect aim.

Funny you noticed this. I came up with the kit and the passenger side always takes an hour and a long list of words not to be typed here ... and the the driver side always is a 10 minute snap ?!?

Jay,
Maybe it just works out that way for right handed people. Try having a left handed friend do the passenger side and get back to us on it.
Cheers!

It makes no sense at all. Perhaps if I flush the toilet in SA then the passenger side (now the driver's side of course) goes on in 10 minutes.

Is there some special technique to get the rubber gasket to look good?

rings
I tried everything to get the rings and gaskets to look good. I did the best I could but never happy. Then Vintage came out with this kit. Problem solved and now I have metal rings.

I've got the metal rings but I am still not happy with how they look, maybe it just catches my eye (...but mine is the one that really matters!)

You need to "lose" the gasket.
