Default Turn Signal Problem

Green turn signal light on dash stays lit all the time.
Started doing it every once in a while and then would act normal. Now staying on. All lights work, but when putting the turn signal on, the light will light up for both sides but not flash.
I think I've checked all the grounds, seem ok. What else could it be?
Thanks.

My turn signals have never consistantly worked since my car was new....I will be interested to hear the fixes that I will need to do for my nearly new factory backdraft! It's extremely dangerous in traffic, have come close to having my ass run over several times.

h2 ... when you say 'all lights work' do you mean all the other lights work normally?

When you select a side for the indicators, do the lights come on and stay on with the dash light? Select a side, and see if both the fronr and rear lights come on, or just 1. A blown bulb in a light will usually show as the dash light staying on and not flashing.

If the rear doesn't light it could be the bulb or it could be the base has allowed the bulb to shake loose.

There are several threads covering the rear lights and new bases.

regards

It is the relay is should go "click, click" sounds like it is stuck on. They are under the carpet onthe right side passenger well. they are generic and available at any auto parts store for about $7.

I think Rwillia4 hit the nail on the head... Mine did this once - the day I took delivery. A little knock with the back of a screwdriver on the relay in the passenger footwell and it hasn't done it since...

Your turn signals work? My super-sloppy turn signal lever in #139, VW I believe, has been a burr under my saddle since day one. Not to mention electrical connection problems due to vibration.

The last time I got busted was for no brake lights/turn signals, I actually borrowed the officer's Maglight to tap on the light housings, which kinda fixed it. Thank God Bosslady was driving, she kept him distracted while I cursed and prayed 50 miles from home with the sun going down.

She will be my Avatar forever.

Talking Solved!!

You guys are awesome! This is why CC is the best club in the world!

Removed the flasher relay, tapped it and pushed it back in, light is out and works like it should. I think however, I will pick up a spare just in case this one is trying to die on me.

Frustraiting to down shift (saving brakes ) and move the turn signal lever up and down at the same time.

Glad you found the problem. I was thinking about the relay after you left.

Easier and cheaper to change brake pads than a clutch.

You could spin the turn signal lever 180 deg. Just loosen the set screw and make sure the wiring is freed up enough to move. I did that to mine and I like it much, much better now. So does my wife !!

Trueoo7,
Figured out my problem is the relay. However, I did discover that you can move the lever wherever you want it.
Just had to remove the steering column to install flanges on the pipes and headers. No way to get the header off with it in place. But that's a different thread I'll be posting in the near future, to inform everyone how I installed the flange kits.

BTW, I can't make the Cobra too user friendly for the wife or I'll never get to drive it.
