Default BDR 499 Has a powerplant!

Y'all check out Jay's site...BDR499 finally has a powerplant.
Well worth the wait, if I say so myself!

Gun Doc:

That is one sweeeet engine. It shouldn't be long before you are on the road. I took delivery in March and I already have 1,000+ miles. Gook luck with your car. Can not wait to the finished product.

Thumbs up Impressive Looking

That's a nice looking motor. So give us some of the specs on her (e.g., cubic inches, HP, TQ).

I am sure you are "chomping at the bit" to get her together and on the road.

Good luck.

The engine is from Eric at PE. It is a 351W with just shy of 460HP and 500FtLb. It should move 499 down the road without too much trouble, pluse it has the WOW factor!!

Cobra Troop. I am back at Fort Hood. Got back a couple of weeks ago. I was on Speicher with the 25th CAB (+).

Cobra Troop,

Those are carbs. Weber carbs, 4ea 48mm IDA downdraft. They can be a pain, but when properly tuned, kick major butt, and nothing sounds like them. They are also very high on the "WOW" factor.

On a small block there should be no problem with fitment.

Oh yeah, they are not cheap, either!!

Cobra Troop,

Yes there are EFI systems that have the same "Look."

The Webers will run you $4000.00 +/-

Cobra Troop,

Jay took care of everything. I went and saw him before I deployed, told him what I wanted and he made it happen. The engine was built by Eric at PE in Ohio.

Talk to Jay, he can set you up with whatever you may want. He is great to work with and now knows the challenges of working with someone in Iraq.

How is the install comming?
Keep us informed.
Really interested in either EFI with Weber look, Roush, or real thing like you have.
Thanks

BEH,

Jay put up some new photos on the Vintage web site.(vintage-motorsports.com). The engine is in! I doubt that it has been fired up yet (in the car), but should be soon. I am in Texas, so I have not seen the car except in photos. It is killing me, first Iraq, now in Texas!!! Soon, real soon...

How are you geting the car home?
Shipping or driving it?
Also, wondering why you didn't use a local dealer, if in fact there is one in Texas.
I would be hesitant to buy from a dealer somewhere else than have to use a local dealer if you have problems or just for service.
There are so many good comments about Vintage Motor Sports that I would be tempted to deal with them, but then I wouldn't want to go Suncoast Motors in Sarasota for service or advise if I didn't buy from them. (I am in Pinellas Park, TB)
Just my thoughts.
