Default Tranny mount and rear end question

Since I put the car together I have been working out little bugs, last night with probably 500 miles on it it started shaking from the rear pretty violently when starting out in 1 and 2nd after 3rd it was fine, I remeber I had little clearance from the frame to the front of the driveshaft, I was told to mount the cross member below the crossmember bracket instead of above it. I am about to drive the car onto ramps and look at whats going on, but I am also going to change the rear end fluid, what fluid is reconmended for these rear ends and alsoany helpful tips would be nice.

Fox, an aside, kinda, I have a "clunk" from the rear end of #139 when I upshift, just started at about 4500 miles. I can hear it and I can feel it in my butt. My buds and I have had her up on the lift, but we know ZIP about Beemer suspension!

I think I will look into that crossmember thing.

I personally think you need to pull your driveshaft and give the U-joints a really good squint, but that's just the old hot rodder from the '60's.

BTW, #42 was the first BDR I ever drove, back in March, 2004. I wrote a deposit check for #139 an hour later.

I tried to post 2 pics, they were too large, so I uploaded them to my members' photo thing.

One is UT sitting in the car with a you-know-what grin, the other is from, I think, fall, 2003 at TMS. I was told that your front end starts to float at 155.(!!!)

Luck, Brudda. Our saddles are hand-built and will ALWAYS have burrs under them.

Check all of the bolts that hold the diff in. There's a post here about one of the bolts breaking. You couldn't tell it broke since the head of the bolt was still there.

Default rear fluid

Vintage said to me that royal purple is what they use and I think it was around two quarts plus.
Mine is due soon. New lsd diff this year and about 300 miles so far.

"Red Line Lightweight-Shockproof" All-Synthetic oil is what I use and what was in my car which is only a few numbers off of yours. It is greenish blue in color. There is no weight specified on the container except to say on the back it is rated at 70W140 and as far down as 30W. I had my diff out of the car which made it easier to fill and it took a little over 2 qt's. If you overfill it there is a small vent hole that it WILL come out of over time.

The diameter of the "centering" device on the back of the driveshaft flange and the diameter of the rear differential centering device are different diameter (but close). Even if your bolts are tight it may jack around a bit and cause the driveshaft to be out of balance.
