Rattling doors?

anyone else have this issue over semi-rough pavement?

The passenger side striker bolt was a little loose, but even after snugging it up, both doors still clatter quite a bit.

Was thinking of some hard plastic bushings over the striker, but not sure if the latch will accomodate it...

Mine is an older build (#89), so not sure if any changes have been made.

Mine was doing the same thing. After tightening everything up and still hearing the rattle, I found the best remedy was some 1/4 inch sticky back felt tape I found at Lowe's. Just went to the garage to see if I had the wrapper. I don't, but still have the tape. Worked great and cost only a couple of bucks. Good luck.

The doors on BDR #101 rattled a bit also. So, I purchased door insulation stripping from an auto shop (like Pep Boys, Auto Zone, Checker). The door stripping comes in various widths and has adhesive on the back side (comes rolled up in a plastic bag). I purchased 1/2 inch soft black rubber insulation strip and installed it on both doors full length from the top of the front to the top of the back on both doors. (I had to remove the Mickey Mouse door insulation that was on the doors.) Now, both doors close like a Mercedes and do not rattle!

thanks for the input... but the rattle is not coming from the door surround... (where I already have weatherstripping) ... it's coming from the latch & striker bolt.

Put a piece (or two) of shrink fit tubing around the striker bolt. This is not a perfect fix as it will need to be changed every so often when it wears thru, but it should help.

The retrofit door bumper kits are rumored to be available soon. That will take the rattle out. I have not seen the retrofit kits yet but the bumpers have been working very well since chassis #200 or so.

My fix is cheap, fast, but has to be done about once a year. I take stretchy plastic electrician's tape and wrap it a couple of times around the "striker bolt".

10 seconds per side.
.05 of tape per side.
Silence for one year, priceless!

I would have to call mine the "original Backdraft style". Later cars added an extra piece to help locate/isolate the door. As for what the latches and striker are called, I am not sure. Maybe the Backdraft dealers can tell you.

I'm assuming the latches & strikers are standard issue Backdraft.

BTW... the tip on the electrical tape worked great! No more rattles & a more satisfying thunk when you shut the door.
