side emblems failing
Wow, I looked closely at my "powered by Ford" emblems/badges on the car sides and realized that they are disintegrating from the inside out! I can hardly read the word Ford on one of them and the other is getting bad too. So, I thought no problem, I'll replace them with the extra 427 emblems I have had for awhile.
Guess again! Backdraft must use a special emblem that has 2 long threaded studs on them. My 427 emblems have short pins with push on fasteners. So, where do I get the proper ones? They are designed to hold the side vents in place as well. Any ideas? And if so, will the new ones get messed up too?
Anybody else have this problem? What causes it, heat or ????
I prefer "powered by Ford" because I don't have a 427 in my car. But, someone told me that the 427 emblem is more correct for the body style. Anybody want to trade for some very nice new 427 emblems?

there another thread on this. backdraft recommended countersiking some similar sized bolts fluch with the body to mount the vents (ugh), then cut off and file down the short pins on the back of the new badge and mount it with double sided tape. I dont like that solution. does backdraft make these badges with the long pins or do they get them someplace else?
As far as badge etiquette, I think its appropriate to have a 427 badge if you have a big block - doesnt have to be a 427.

I will add these take off items to our store today if you want them. We swap them out on all the Roush cars.

the 427 emblems would be more correct for the bodystyle, 427 or not under the hood....the b/d solution works just fine, try it!

Jay,
Yeah, I could use a pair of those emblems. Let me know how much (I didn't see them listed yet in the store) and I'll send you a check or credit card if I can get them through your online store.
I assume they are the original ones, just like I have now. Do you have the little nuts for the threaded part. I see I am missing one. Also, has anyone else had this problem?
