BDRS and Superchargers
I have been thinking of possibly adding a praxton supercharger on my cobra. Has any one done this, and if so what would it look like under the hood. Can you post any photos of the engine compartment with the supercharger installed. Moreover, how does it perform etc.
Thanks for any feed back.
at this time i have a Ford 351 W just under 400 hp

I haven't seen a Paxton installation in decades, but some of my Mustang Kids swear by them.
Hood clearance a problem, maybe?

Years ago I went through 2 paxtons-fried from overheating spun bearings on shaft at that time they did not have any recirculating oil running through them-self contained oil resevoir, it used transmission fluid I think... today ?? if they are still the same I think I would use a Vortec or something with some oil lines running to it, I think they will run cooler..

try contacting Jeffko on the forum. He is good friends with a guy (Buddy) who has a BDR with a dart 427 with a vortec on it.
He knows all the details and may have pics.

I wish they had ther own large oil tank I dont like the idea of sharing the oil with my engine if it looses a bearing and flushes it into my engine.Id think a gallon tank with a electric pump would be nice ,as our engine was built for this very application it would be cool to see it how it works out ..good hunting .WB

Just MHO... twin turbos?
I'm sorry, Cobra Brudda, but look up the word "overkill" in the dictionary and you will find a reference to your post.
Unless your are a 1/4-mile kinda guy... (He-hee-heee...)

good point, I don't need any more power, my car is set up prettywell and as a driver. but a littles boost would be fun. Many friends tell me that I don't need it. But lets b truthfull, we really don't need a cobra we just love them and want them. So whats another luxury??? Just a bit more cashflow needed

HA! We are on the same page, my Yankee friend.
Like I told my (few) relatives 3 years ago, "I have no kids, it's my money, Momma is taken care of, and I will not die rich. It's my dream car, I'm buyin' it, bite me."
Look at blueprinted GMC 6-71 blowers, the technology has come a long way in the past 30 years.
Plus a huffer makes a Heck of a ... "hood statement."
Not to mention instant throttle response, no lag or hesitation like turbo's.
Rock on Brudda, please don't mention the "N" word. (Nitrous!)
UT
Yeah, I still remember.

Also the way I figure it. Have fun now while we can enjoy it. Why wait until retirement when your older, aged and even "god for bid " sick. Forget it I did it know. Thats why we work hard.
MY assemblers were thinking of a paxton supercharger for me because it will give me the boooost, but won't make a radical change on drivability.
And I drive this thing. since 10/06 i put 6700 miles on the car. I'm shooting for 7000 mile for my first year. We will see
