No Pulse reading
Okay when I got my BDR #42 it was a completed car, well last night John Ross and I took the car out to program the speddo, well it appears I am not getting a pulse reading. We took the car back to his house looked under the dash and everything is hooked up to the speedometer. We proceded to jack the car up to look underneath to see if the connection to the diff was connected, we looked and did not find any wiring going to the diff or tranny. So my question is where is it suppose to be hooked up? We didn't find any unconnected plugs or leads under the car? btw I have a VDO electronic speedo.

Speedo sensor is on the diff. Factory wires run right back to it. Let me know if you need a picture or two.

I tried to send you a pic of the differential rear cover with speedo connection, but E-mail failed. E-mail me & I'll reply with pics.

May I suggest you trace the wires connected to the speedo out and find out where they go.
the Electronic VDO guage does not care where you get pickup, hence you may find that it was to be going to the diff. and got pulled away.
Depending on the trans, you can connect it there or anywhere a steady proportional signal is provided. The TKO600 two prong connector for speed is completely compatible and a connctor can be purchased from JimiG.
Hope this helps.

We looked at doing this last night and they go immediatly into the wire loom for the harness, and we didn't see any wires under the car, but this weekend I am going to look a little more for these wires

well just looked at my diff and I have the connection but no wiring to it, so since the speedo has the wiring plugged in, just gotta find where it ends, and hopefully it's bunched up somewhere to give me enough length to run to the diff

Okay James Yale a Tx BDR dealer helped alot, followed the harness and no interuptions at all and the harness ended at the fuel gauge wiring, so started playing with that and the harness was pinched between the body and fuel tank. I lowered the tank about an inch and freed up the harness and was able to find the 2 wires that lead to the diff. Here in a little will be crimping connections to the wires and hooking it up and then doing the calibration.

I am asuming it's the same but my wiring is Brown and white and then green and Black, but the Brown wire still goes to the inside of the sending unit and green goes to the outside correct?

It doesn't matter on which post you put the wires it is just a hall effect sensor. Easy way to test the wiring is to turn the car to the on position and connect the wires and have someone watch the speedo, it should start going up. If you then connect the wires and still get no signal or no pulse than its a bad sensor. Sensor is easy to remove and fluid will not be lost if you have the car level or nosed forward, make sure the o-ring gets put back on the sensor if you remove it.....hope this helps.

Could there be some way that the speedo lost its calibration, and needs to be calibrated?
