Default Few issues and questions

Went to take the car out tonight and noticed three things
1.) Tach was about 2k higher than it should of been and kinda bounced around with throttle play

2.) Volts were way down 10V

3.) The red light was on ( Ihave an early BDR and I have 3 indicator lights
Blue = High beams are on

Orange = Fans are on

Red = ????

I know red normally means a problem so any ideas on this, all 3 things happened tonight right after start up, were fine last night as I drove about 70 miles total

Sounds like a hot lead.
Had a similiar problem once and it was the positive lead loose at the battery.

I'd start checking terminals at the alternator first.That is what the red light is for.Then the battery.Easy stuff first.

I have car 38 and same three lights, I was told red had to do with oil temp. I have also heard it goes to the alternator but I have had instances where my alternator was working and not working and I never saw the light lit.

Well i believe it does goe to the alt, as the car was only on for less than 5 minutes before it started and oil temp wasn't an issue

I talked to John R last night and I fiqured out I had 3 options

1.) redo all wiring to the alt (make it cleaner and heat wrap all them professionally) and check all grounds

2.) Start testing all leads to isolate the issue then fix the problem

3.) Go to the store, buy a 12 pack and call Joe Wicked over and hope he can get a kitchen pass

Well I did the 1st one and it's back to normal, no long test drives yet but redid a few wires to the alt, retourqued the grounds and tightened the semi loose neg cable at the battery
