Thumbs up New BDR owner from Italy

Hello guys,
I would to introduce myself as the new BDR435 owner (http://www.vintage-motorsports.com/gallery/BDR435).

The car is just arrived today in Italy, where I live and where I will drive it soon.

I think it's probably the first and unique BDR in Italy as well.

I would like to thank Jay at Vintage Motorsport (and his family) to the help and support provided me during the last months. He arranged all my requests and needs at best.

If you are looking for a BDR and you need a complete and professional selling service (expecially if you don't live in US), he is the right man for you !!

Bye,
Paolo.

The land of daily driver Ferrari and Lamborghini... you live a life we envy. Glad to hear she made it there safely. Looking forward to more.

It was a pleasure.

How often does a "stranger" from Italy ("my climate is similar to Miami") arrive on your doorstep and drive a 'car' around your building for 8 laps with temps around 10 degrees F not counting the wind chill... and then ask for more... and then give you money!!!

An interesting business we are in. This is what it is all about.

Hey, now that's a good story. The land of Ferrari and Lamborghini for sure, but also the land of bikers (as in bicyclists) where they don't run you down flipping the bird. I love that place. Room for everyone on the roads and when they're done, great food, wine, and all the rest too.

Good luck and keep us posted on your car and the crowds.

Tom

Default Italy

Hi Paolo

Good move!

I would be very interested to know how you got the Cobra into Europe, in particular past the various Euro rules on power to weight ratios, emissions, 'noise' controls, etc.

I ask because I am getting a Kirkham and very much wanted to bring it into Switzerland, but concluded it would never pass the various approvals needed.

Regards
M

Paolo,
Good for you and congrats!!!
I was born in Italy and frequent back often. I hope your open road driving techniques are up to par. As we North Americans are very far behind. Awesome place to open up the carbs and raise your heart rate. I recommend the "Amalfi Coast" drive south until you reach the nude beaches and ......well stay the night...lol.

As for the other fine Italian cars every where (I've driven most) I wouldn't worry about them as they seem to hug the road a lot better then the way our snakes are set up. I would worry and watch out for the Moto Guzzi's and the Ducat's on the "autostrada". As those bikes can really make you wonder about the stability of ones mind as they fly by you, and makes you feel like you were standing still. I still feel that highway puts the German autobahn to shame. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGOKo...eature=related) Stay off the left lane unless you have a pilots licence.

If anyone wants to see this rent or buy the DVD collection called "Visions of Italy" (A BBC special) and the Almalfi coast southern chapter of DVD and watch the biker over take a Alfa on a blind apex mountain bend. Shot from a helicopter and everytime I see it it makes my arm hairs stand up.
Good luck and vai forte con bona fortuna e con occhi de cristo!!! (go fast, good luck with Gods eyes)

Based on recent interest and pending sales, I believe the Italian Cobra Club should be forming in the next 6 months! Our weak dollar is really starting an interesting market.

I visited Rome a couple years back. I took a cab ride, he entered the opposite lane, cutting individuals off, it was scary to say the least, yet everyone seams to do it and they all mesh. He kept saying it's ok and laughing!!!

I will never forget Ferraris and other exotics getting pushed back and forth while people parallel parked in Paris and it appeared to be an accepted practice.

Thumbs up Nice Choice of Color

Paolo,
I checked your gallery and Backdraft 435 has a strong resemblence to my BDR 473, Titanium with Black stripes. Is it the same colors? In many photos, titanium takes on a yellow tint that is indicative of titanium metal in many cases. Check my gallery. I picked up my car from Boyton Beach in May 2007 and have 1260 miles on it now. The engines also have some similarities. What are the details? Best regards and enjoy a great car.

William, I checked your gallery and was very difficult for me to find something different than in my car. The build seems really the same... My engine is a 351W rated at 435hp while the trans is a TKO600. The only exterior difference could be the oil cooler tubes on the front radiator side of my car.

At moment I'm waiting for the registration process ending, so I've not yet driven it.

The engine seems very affordable. It started at first try after about 2 months of stop due to shipping/import process.

Bye,
Paolo.
