Wtb looking for: BDR - Update: FOUND 602
Morning cobra lovers
I'm a European looking to buy a BDR cobra.
I have been following this (and other) fora for quite some time - have even tried to buy one - but been to slow to "pull the trigger" in the past
I just missed the orange #600 on e-bay - was thinking twice because I really wanted the 427... and this one had the 402 IR.
Anyway - If any of you good Cobra lovers are looking to depart from your beloved (cobra that is ) - I might be the one to nurse it in the future
To give you an idea what I'm looking for:
1) Prefeer a "almost new" - The "bugs" worked out and the warrenty won't matter as I'm a million miles away
2) Engine: 427 or aluminium BB - Keith Craft, Roush or... (pls. don't shoot me ) LS7 (with T-56 or TKO600)
3) I expect the car will need to visit a dealer for "personal customize" so options are not key
Price range... hope I will get away with less than 50 grand in total
could look like this:
(hmm... failed to upload picture )
Kind regards
Henrik

He sure does use a lot of those smilies.
The OP should search www.cobracountry.com. There are at least a couple to a few there.

Henrik-
Still shopping? I have 2 very low mile cars (under 500 miles each) that I am displaying at Carlisle this weekend. How about a 402R car with many custom touches for $48k??? At the show... give me an email, it has been awhile.

As I'm in Europe it's not that simple - I would like to get it right the first time... second hand market over here is very limited.
I don't "just" buy the first one around - as stated the orange/white #600 on ebay slipped... also Suncoast had a Black/Silver where I was too late.
Strange how you good people welcome a person - I would have thought that you would find it "positive" that a European shared your passion
And for the "still looking" - I'm not rushing into this - I think carefully about this... too many out there were they should have stayed with the Vette.
But thanks for the interest in my post.

Sorry Henrik - it was not directed at you or really anyone.
A lot of scams come through here from people overseas wanting to buy; send the car and they'll send a cheque. The car is real but the cheque isn't.
Jay's post indicated that he'd been talking to you - and that your post was straight up and you are in the market - which I responded to.
Jay has sold a few to Europe so he knows the procedure and you can't really go wrong dealing with him - or Reg in Florida.
A few days ago a guy said he'd gone for a ride in another brand replica and found that right now it was not the car to buy for himself or his family. He'd done a lot of research and a car had been taken across the country for him. No hard feelings anywhere - it's just the way it happens sometimes. He's still around and one day the time will be right for him
From what you initially posted I think a BDR fits in there nicely. Jay knows what's around, and he'll certainly be able to send you some options to look at.
As to a LS-7 - it's your car and what you want is entirely up to you The 7 will fit and there's nothing wrong with that engine choice. T-56 - I asked about that unit back in '04 when it wouldn't fit - now it does and for a smaller HP engine it is certainly an option to look at. Bigger HP would be a little better suited to a TKO500 or 600.
We'll certainly look forward to seeing the pics of a BDR on the road in Europe.
Doug

Hi Doug
I know - I read the tread with the feeling "all show and no (real intention to) go"
Yes, I have been in contact with Jay - but to be honest - I felt "run over by a sales guy" if you understand... at that time I was less educated, and as I state - I go for a 427... or BB not a 402 (You all know why )
Of cause I could state my full "wish list" - but that will only complicate things, and it's for me to deal with later.
/Henrik
PS: The LS7 as an options - as it is for Aussi freaks it is easier to get it registred in Europe, more "after market" dealers / service - and I like the LS7 engine... (after all it is a "copy" - for me the rumble of a big "American" V8 is what matters - or I could have installed a Audi/BMW/Mercedes V8)

I have one of the very few (maybe there are 4 or 5) BDR's with a sideoiler installed....427 stroked to 487CI Genesis block (Dyno'd at 522 HP with 578 lbs Tq.), and I would be willing to consider a sale...if the price were right.
Interested?
Name a price...let's chat.

It's fine... I am a sales guy too. But you can't ask for a Roush 427 and a get a BB. And you can't ask for a $50k car and get a BB Roush. The car for you is out there. If I don't have it ok, sounds like Dino may have it.... that would be great, since I am picking out colors for his coupe
You don't want Cbreeze's car, even he does not want it.

I'm running 600+HP through my T56 with no problems. I've also never had it get stuck in a gear and can easily find the gears.

While there's nothing wrong at all with a 56, the wider and higher torque curve of a high HP engine doesn't, generally, need the extra gear to keep it sitting on the sweet spot. Then again for general road use the 56 gives you an extra option for cruising.
When I first started looking I found the 56 was a good option for that very reason - but it wouldn't fit in a BDR. Now that they do fit - well, the choice is hard. The 500's and 600's have the bullet-proof reputation.
Choices choices choices.

I had a T-56 in #278, with a 427 SB, absolutely awesome. The new TD car is set up with a Levy 408, and a G Force T-56, with a .9 fifth, and a .8 sixth. I'm hoping for some dyno numbers soon, but in the low 500s is conservative. (at the wheels)
Cheers,
Richard

And once again a tread jumped off track
Interesting debate about transmission - but wrong tread...
I'm still looking - and open for offers.
Please submit pictures and details if you are looking to sell.
Kind regards

Bill Littleton in Ohio will stand by you
Henrik,
BDR's are great, look cool and are reliable - but little things will always pop up as these are not mass production cars. Even though you are a a long way away, if you buy from Bill - he will stand by you after purchase. He will also be able to tell you how to fix it without looking at it after having taken car of so many BDR's. The fact that you are a long way away makes the decision easier to have a reliable, trusted advisor to keep the BDR in tip-top shape. Good luck - hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
