Leesport, eh? That's my old stomping grounds (grew up about 5 miles from there). Are you in the area or only thinking of buying the car from the area? Do you have any more details on the car (build number, color, motor, etc)? I'm only about 40 minutes away or so if I can help with anything...

Hmmmm... ask him if the engine has a new crankshaft or a reground? I believe that TNT is one of those quickie NJ engine shops.

I have never heard of them but www.vintagemotorsports.com has a couple of really nice ones for sale and they are a reputable BD dealer in CT. Check I would check them out before you pull the trigger.

I've never come across the name TNT, but the name alone would worry me.

If you want to be careful, then buy from Jay at Vintage Motorsport. In his case, you get what you pay for. A BDR with a Roush engine, a warranty and great customer service.

If you can get it for $33500 with 65 miles and it runs and never wrecked you cant really go wrong. Even if the engine is not up to par, you can repair for $3-5K.

TNT, though, has the advantage in that it appears essentially the same whilst looking in a rear-view mirror.

Is the T5 new or rebuilt? A T5 behind a 351W may be a little dicey. How's the rest of the look and sound?

"Whilst"? Shakespeare major?

That engine is full of used parts. Price is very low for a reason. If the builder was in your neighborhood it would be a safe bet since you have him to fix it.

I can sell you a new roller and transmission for that price and you can get a nice engine built/bought and put in. Save you a couple steps

A subconscious bow of deference to our friends across the pond. Kind of like seeing the Stig chasing after me in a diesel Rabbit. (and passing me, no doubt...)

BTW, if it was my money... I'd send it to Cashburn.

Actually, and Eric can attest to this. A brand new WC T-5 can live quite happily behind a 351W in the 460HP range. I would not however put a rebuilt older unit in there, especially the ones that are converted from 4 cyl. and 6 cyl. cars.

I thought this car already sold through eBay anyway?

If you want a list of actual BDR dealers you can reference the Backdraft Web site (if this tells you anything): http://www.backdraftracing.com/dealers.asp

Thanks. Are you interested in getting up here next month for our fall drive by any chance? I will keep the FF/SPF owners away from your lunch.

I should have the details posted later today on the trek. We are going to have a local hotel for out of towners and we will park the cars inside our shop over night and shuttle everyone in the morning for the drive.

Between FFR, SPF, and CSX I'm liable to end up with KCN on my french fries.

Thanks for all the info guys......I appreciate your honest opinions and expertise. I talked to Craig at BDR in Boynton Beach. From our conversation and the replies to this thread.......it looks like the economy is having a real effect on the sale of our prefferd toys.......everyone is ready to make a deal!
