Default Dyno Runs at the Mustang Ranch

Greetings, -- This week /weekend we will be running Dyno-Jet and tuning sessions with Sean from Diablo motor-sports. (whooo hooo!!!)

(Sean is a really mean man with a keyboard)

Whilst most appointments are booked from this Thursday to Saturday night this week/weekend (Jan 28-29-30.)

-- we may have a cancellation -- you never know.

you are welcome to come by and check it out Thursday from 12 noon onward. To see what a dyno-jet run is all about.

INCOMING: We have a pair of late Model Shelby GT 500 Super Snakes tuning, and some interesting supercharged, fuel injected and just plain crazy things as well.

Our Dyno-Jet run time is $125Hr, based on a 1 hour minimum (however many runs you can do for your baseline or tune in your appointed hour. )

Feb 13th we are doing a Dyno-Jet Carburetor tuning day as of now.

if you need help with fuel injection, or late model supercharged chipping, we are tentatively going to have Sean back up on Feb-25,26,27.

This week-weekend would be a great time to come in and review your tuning thoughts with the staff !

Steve

I always thought the Mustang Ranch was located just outside of Reno.

How much for a dyno-run?

Doesn't sound right.

Steve paid the back taxes that were owed to the Feds and re-opened in the South Bay.

Being the dummy that I am, does this require those bungs to be welded to both sidepipes?

I don't think it's required for a straight dyno run. If you want any tuning done they'll probably want the bungs installed.

Yeah, tough to get past someone drilling my sidepipes to install some undesirable looking plugs, even though I know you can't see it from the exterior. Almost like using a forklift to move your car onto a trailer.

We can hide the low profile bungs in about the 7' o clock position on the pipes. You can select one, or two - two is more precise.

As doug says , you dont NEED them if all you want is power readings, but if you want any info on your fuel mixtures , then its a gotta-do.

Our rates for a dyno are fair , and you actually get more for your money.

CONCEPT: We have 2 MR people for safety strapping and double checking the load of the car on the dyno, -we have 2 people operating the dyno at all times, in addition to the driver. This is for watching for things going on with the car and keeping the place as safe as possible.

it also takes 2 or so runs to get the car dialed in on the riging and get the operator tuned with how the car reacts on the dyno.

in an hour session there is usually 5 to 8 runs (good runs) and we give you a print of the best say 3 or 4 or 5 so you can know "exactly where you are " .

I thought this was a better approach to the 3 runs fer X$.

And then you'd have tell your wife that you need to get "bungs" installed in your pipes before you visit the Mustang Ranch. It's just going to be a weird conversation, and way too hard to explain.

You mean the NEW Mustang Ranch.

Steve, I'll give it some thought. I can hear the "clucking noises" in the background.

Just behind the 4 into 1 collector about 2 inches back.

From looking at the front of the car, positioned 7 o clock drivers side pipe , 5 o' clock passenger side pipe.

Steve: So are you installing the bungs and then doing the dyno runs in an hour? Put me on the waiting list. Rich

Caution: When shopping at the Mustang Ranch via credit card, make preemptive notification to wife of charges BEFORE they arrive on credit card bill!!! Better to fight from from offensive position than defensive!!

It looks like there's a chance of rain on Saturday. If the reports change, I'm going to try and make a run over the hill to watch some of the dyno runs.

Dave,

What a menu they have. Problem is, it doesn't show price's!!!!! Can only imagine what it cost!

Is there a plan or specific time everyone is going to meet there, or breakfast first??

I need to work on my daughters 03 Explorer sometime during the day. It has the 4.6 V8 dual over head cam engine. It seems like one of the cams got out of time and one of the valves possibly hit the piston. Not sure yet. It took almost two hours to pull the spark plugs by the time you pull all the crap off the top of the engine. With the plugs out the engine still wont turn over. This really isn't something I want to do!! Anyone have a good reasonable shop for working on late model cars!! I am afraid to take it to the dealer. I am thinking if it did drop a valve, I might be better off getting a used engine for $1500 to drop in!! I am sure I could spend more then that getting a head redone and possibly having a bent rod!!

Thoughts???????

Scott

Scott, I've used Auto America on Winfield (Oakridge) several times for tune up/minor repairs. Never had anything major done there. Mark
