Would any of you mind if an OKIE drops into one of your breakfast this Saturday? My wife has meetings all next week and I am tagging along.

The weather forecast is looking like periods of rain on Saturday.

well, the daily drivers would be substituted in; we can still go, it just won't look nearly as cool with cars and no side pipes.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to join you this weekend as I will be pouring wine for Joseph Swan Vineyards at the annual Russian River Barrel Tasting. Tough duty. Rich

Tom mentioned Buck's in the post that kicked off this thread.
I haven't been there for years, but I saw this interview on YouTube that Robert Scoble did with the Jamis Macniven, the owner of Buck's today. Lots of history and memorabilia.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EFyx...ure=youtu.be&a
It reminds me of all of the stuff that they used to have on the wall at St. James Infirmary. If you grew up in the Bay Area, you know that the place was an famous/infamous watering hole...not that I ever went there.

Doug: We did a visit to Buck's last year and it was big fun. Very good food and plenty of parking. What I remember most about St. James Infirmary wasn't what was on the walls, it was what was hung from the ceiling, overhead, a very old black hearse driven hell-bent by a skeleton dude and a skeleton horse! I was glad there were no earthquakes when I visited! Rich

Unfortunately, St. James Infirmary burned to the ground in 1998, the result of an arson fire.

Buck's is a great location with good parking, but if I can go, I'll probably have to drive my car down up and down the freeway first to get it fully warmed up.

So about 12 of us made it to Hobee's in Sunnyvale today. It was pretty good, but parking was rather limited; technically, we parked on the Hotel 6 side. Didn't get kicked out or anything. Atmosphere is just a normal diner; nothing like Bucks or Alices. I was a bit surprise how pricey it was ($14+) however, it was a St. Patricks day special.
What did everyone else think that came out today?

I liked my Hi-Protein Honey Wheat Pancakes with strawberries and bananas, but the guys around me were making me a little nervous with their large order of Butter & Syrup and side of pancakes.
I had my cell phone in hand ready to dial 911.
A new term I learned today. It's called a "clear" breakfast. You know, when the paramedics have the paddles on your chest and are yelling "CLEAR."

Great turn out and a lot of fun today! Hobee's was worth a try, but I don't think it will be part of our regular rotation.
Maybe we should give Bucks a shot next time before Alice's becomes our regular spot for the Spring/Summer.
