High Octane Goodness - Available Where >?

Remember guys, unless your engine needs the high octane fuel being discussed here by using it you will give up some power. High octane fuel burns more slowly than does lower octane fuel. 93 octane is probably all most of us need.

We have a few places here that sell F&L 111. I mix it with 91, but lately I have been thinking of going to the local airport and buying some 100 LL. I ran the stuff in a 850 HP blown BB, and it worked well. Cheaper than race gas as well.

To the best of my knowledge, in CA, we only have 91 octane gas. I will occasionaly mix in the higher octane Sunoco sold at the pump just to make me feel better about detonation, plus my car seems to run better.

I just got off the phone with the supply company that I buy my racing gas from and they have 93 octane, Ethanol free that you can come in and it is legal. He said they sell a lot of it to people for their chain saws, garden equipment, and so forth. I think I will get 5 gallons of it and see how it works out.

I checked with the gas station on Woodside Road and they said that they will sell out of their remaining inventory (55 gallon drums) of LEADED Sunoco and then, in the future, will carry 5-gallon "pails" for sale to the consumer of this gas under the new restrictions (paperwork) of the law.

Yes, they sell Sunoco GT 100 unleaded at the pump. The price is roughly double the regular 91 octane Supreme. Last time I filled up, it was in the low $6 range, but I'm sure it's different now.

From what I understand, they will continue to sell the LEADED Sunoco 110 and 112 octane gas, not from the pump, but via 5-gallon "pails", as I mentioned with some paperwork that will need to be filled out by the consumer, once they run out of their current LEADED supplies.

Infineon sells various octanes from 91 to 100+ octane ... a bit out of the way for most folks, but when I travel to SF or beyond (near Hwy 37) they never refuse entrance to the pumps.
