Anyone in BACC Going To SAAC, SAAC 35?
I'm thinking of driving up Friday morning and/or possibly Saturday. Anyone want to caravan either day? Although at this early stage, Friday is looking best for me. Post here, if you're driving up and not staying in San Rafael at HQ.

If I go, I'll probably drive up just for the day on Saturday. I haven't seen any details yet, so I'm not certain what the parking situation will be. If there isn't any paddock parking available, I'll pass.
I know that WSCG Group is planning a 3 day event around the SAAC weekend, and they'll have corral parking included in the 3 day event price. It probably won't be a per day deal and the registration will likely be available to past Western State Cobra Bash attendees first.

Here's the link to SAAC 35 info, but it doesn't mention parking for spectators or for SAAC/NorCal members:
http://www.saac.com/index.php?option...239&Itemid=130
I'm sure Ron would know, although the details may have not been worked out yet.

Copy/Paste from the SAAC "Open Track" info pdf. I will arrive on Thursday, leave Monday. I'm in the garage.
Ernie
SECTION 3 — PADDOCK ACCESS / PADDOCK PARKING
Infineon has a limited amount of paddock parking. Spots will be available on a first come/first served basis.
Please use as little space as possible. Once you find a spot and set up you will not have to move for the entire
convention. All paved surfaces must be protected. Participants must use flat blocks or wood squares to absorb
weight beneath any equipment that may cause damage to the surface, such as jack-stands and trailer legs. No
holes will be permitted and any asphalt surfaces including but not limited to the racing surface, pit area and the paddock area.
The track will be available at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 26 for load-in until about 7 p.m. It will open at 7 a.m. on Friday,
August 27 and 7:30 a.m. on Saturday August 28 and Sunday, August 29. Once you go through registration and get a
wristband it will not be necessary to go back there again; you can just drive right into the track.

So, if I'm not tracking my Kirkham, where does one park? On the hill in the dirt?

From looking at the map(s) there are a number of parking areas, outside the paddock. I assume it's a bit of a hike from there to the seating, track side, paddock area?
One reason I'm arriving on Thursday is to secure a parking spot for my big azz truck and trailer. Or, maybe I'm supposed to leave the trailer at the hotel? Gotta have the truck at the track, tools, spare parts, tires, etc. Cobra goes in the garage and stays there for the duration.
Why don't you plan on tracking the K car!! You can hang out near my place at the garage and borrow duct tape and JB Weld and stuff to keep that alloy block patched up...

My guess is that you're correct. Unless you sign up for the full SAAC event or are part of the WSCB group, I don't think you'll be able to just drive in and park.
I guess we'll have to wait for more details.

If the host club is NorCal, you would think WE would get preferred parking, although we're probably the largest region in the US, so I'll bet they can't accommodate everyone. Why the WSCB group gets preferred parking and NorCal doesn't seems weird to me.
Ernie, I'm thinking about it, but man, when I had the car on a lift several weeks ago, it sure is "purty" under there. I would hate to "muss" it up. They also have 55 mph "parade laps" at lunch, but just going 55 mph might drive me nuts.
You might want to save that JB Weld and duct tape for that old FE block you have. The new stuff is stronger, lighter and makes more HP just sitting there parked with the engine off.

Buddy of mine with an EXCEPTIONAL modified '66 Stang was so depressed when driving home from a car show and just enough rain to dampen the highway. It went right on the lift to clean and wax the under carriage for fear of that water. I mean the car really is super nice, but still, I had to chuckle.
I've had mine so long now I'm way past "looking good", time to have some fun!

We'll have to see how it all shakes out. The WSCB info isn't 100% (no firm details yet) and I'm sure Ron can weigh in regarding the SAAC event.

Also consider the new Steve Earle show at Sears point June 5/6. I'll start a thread on that later.

I was very disappointed to hear that there wasn't going to be an autocross , but this will be my first time to run the *official* quarter mile , so I'm game. Anyone want to drag for beers? I'm also interested in the "First Timers Class," presuming it is for open track. I'm a little nervous about open track, but this might be a good way for me to get started. I know that my beast is faster than I am. And of course I will enter the "Popular Car Show." Isn't this one for for gnarly old cars like Ernie's and mine?
I'll be mooching off some friends of mine by staying in Glen Ellen overnight, but maybe I'll stop over in one of them fancy hotels after the banquet Saturday night. I would expect concrete parking for those of us participating in events. I guess I better start attending some NorCal SAAC meetings... Rich

I should be up there all three days. I may even bring the BIG trailer so if anyone needs a place to cool off stop on by.
Unfortunately I can only run in the non race groups... heavens forbid a non CSX crosses the finish line first.
