I am getting ready to renew. Smoknac, who are you insured with? Do you have their contact information. I have a VSE & clean driving record & live on the Monterey Peninsula.

Pumpkin....I am very skeptical of insurance company's especially when they are super cheap. I called Condon & Skelly and tried to nail down who the adjusters are when there's an accident since the company is in New Jersey.
I was getting the run around when I asked spacifically what city the adjusters are based out of and got no answer other than they have them all over the US.
What this probably means is that they use a 3rd party adjuster that they hire out to (I can only guess).
As an example, I was hit by a taxi in Las Vegas a year ago in the parking lot of Bally's. He basically opened his door into the side of my car as I was rolling through and it jamed into the side of my Tahoe. When I submitted the report to the Taxi Company, they said they turned it over to a 3rd party adjuster and it was determined it was my fault according to the 3rd party adjuster, and the original Taxi Company would not even talk to me.
I did not want to use my car insurance as rates usually go up so the Taxi's adjuster tried to stick it to me. I finally turned it over to my insurance Company and within 6 months they paid and I got my deductable back.
The moral.......3rd party adjusters can do what ever they want and it takes the responsibility off the original insurance company...AND IT'S LEGAL!
Not that they're not legit....Not that they're not a great company....they just gave me the run around. It could be my sparkling personality!

wow, great pricing around this thread.
Just in case anyone wants to know, CSAA is not cheap but they covered my car after an appraisal was done ($45K) which IMO, is probably fair for the FFR I built (originally, it's worth about that much but have added another 3K since).
It's covered as a 2006 Cobra so there's basically no restrictions, no-fault insurance, 100/300K coverage, $500 deductible, and covers the agreed upon $45K value. No mileage restrictions because, they cover it like any other car so I can drive it ANYWHERE. It's been to Huntington Beach and Lake Tahoe and points in between, but never a show oddly enough. Cost: about $1,000 per year.... like I said, pretty high.

Thank you for the replies to my questions and the input about insurance companies.

Hope this isn't too late, but I pay State Farm just under $300/year, full coverage, "limited use antique/classic." I also have my Corvette and Town House insured with them. Includes California Good Driver discount. Rich

I forwarded smoknac's quote to Barlow and they have not returned my calls. Their initial quote was much higher. I thought i was insured with Grundy, but checked and that is the Grinnall Scorpion III, the Cobra is with State Farm, too many toys.
