Monterey Historic's Aug 18th
Hey All,
Just checking in to see what everyone is doing?? The other thread has got so long, and I don't like reading that much!! What time are people planning to be at the track? Any caravans coming from the south bay or past the south bay?
Let me know. Danette and I will be there Saturday for the event!

The gates open at 7:00 am and racing starts at 8:00 am. If anyone is coming over Hwy 17 on Saturday morning, we can connect in Capitola and caravan down to the track

I am planning on heading down Wednesday morning and participating in a rally. Saturday they want everyone that is signed up for the corral to be there no later than 10am to participate in the parade laps.

I'm going down early. Maybe arrive as early as 7:00am, depends on if I'm needed to help.
I doubt if there will be room for any cars other than originals for parade laps.

Bessie and I are headed down on Wed AM. From my experience with the "100 Years of Ford" a few years ago, there should be plenty of room for us with fakey-do's, albeit we will be in the back...

Do you have a large fakey-do?

I want to get down there by 7:00AM as well.
Do they open the "south boundry" entrance for things like this? I really like that route when going home to avoid the crowds. It would be nice to "enter" in from that side. Maybe I should call them.
*UPDATE*
Just called Mazda Raceway and the "South Boundry" entrance will be open at 7:00AM!
I would recommend this as a good alternative to the primary entrance to avoid a possible long line

Herman,
What's the best route off of Hwy 1 to get to the South Boundry exit? It looks like there's several options.

I was there for the Moto Gp races a 10 days ago and the fog & clouds were heavy until after 10:00. The "Big Hill" in front of the Corkscrew was not visable from Start / Finish, nor was turn 9. Some of the early practice was cancelled. I hope the weather is better for the anticipated weekend.

Herman,
Are you going 85 to 101 then cutting across?

It doesn't look like York connects to South Boundry. Google maps shows it as a "Trail."
Looking at the map, you can also go Canyon Del Ray, Left on General Jim Moore, Right on South Boundry.

From Highway 1: Exit on Hwy 218 (Exit 403) Seaside/Del Rey Oaks exit, travel East and continue for approximately 4 miles. Turn left on Gen. Jim Moore Blvd. Turn right on South Boundary Rd. and follow the signs to the Raceway.

I'm leaving San Francisco Sat morning .... at 4-4:30am. Heading down 280 to 85 to 101, probably stop in Gilroy Outlet Center to get more coffee and gas. Then towards Salinas and ..? Anyone interested in hooking up somewhere?
Which is South Boundry entrance?

Scott:
Thanks for that. I'll have to try and get that on my GPS. I think for me, I would take 280N/85S/101S, then cut over.
Ron:
If you leave 4:00-4:30, you'll probably be in Gilroy Outlets around 6:00PM. I could try to meet you there as I plan to leave about 5:00PM myself.
Scott: did you want to try meeting at the Outlets? There should be a gas station on the West side of Tenant; no need to get near the Outlet side. Let me know. A quick fill, coffee at 6:00PM and then the hunt for the South Boundry road?

I will probably leave around 7:00am also. When we went to the 100 year Ford, we got there a bit late and had one car in front of us. Hopefully by the time we get there, the lines from all you early birds will be gone.
