2013 End of Summer Run - Bridges and Bores
Eighth Annual EOSR - A great day trip to send off the Summer
Saturday September 7th.
Depart Beeb's in Livermore (around 9 AM) or meet up along the way.
Drive through the Caldecott Tunnel.
Drive over the NEW Span of the Bay Bridge - it will only be open a few days and how often do you take the Cobra over the Bridge?
Stop at Treasure Island for a photo opportunity.
Head to Highway One South and travel over & through the new Devil's Slide Bridge and Tunnel.
Lunch at Alice's Restaurant in Woodside.
Head Home - unless someone can suggest a winery at which we can stop.
Drive time approximately two hours plus time on Treasure Island and other stops.
Thoughts and constructive suggestions are welcome. I have a couple of ideas for additional stops but want to see if this Run generally has market acceptance. Your thoughts - let me know at Snakes, by email or on this Forum.

Tom,
Leslie and I would like to join the run. Sounds great, first time Leslie has expressed interest in a long ride. See you at Beeb's.

Will 'try' to make it. My fuel pump died this morning... thank god it worked well at STTL over the weekend! Not a huge problem - worn out commutator brushes most likely, but it's the 2nd time in 19,000+ miles.
Could be filter issues (thus laboring the motor) so I'm doing a complete filter review (canister and inlines). With the bowls dry, there's not a lot of fuel to spill so it should be fairly easy. I don't have spare filters but I do have spare commutator brushes so I'll be able to get the motor running first, then will check the fuel pressure gauge to see if it's getting a full 7psi. If not, then I'll start ordering filters.

Tom - It sounds like a great trip. I wish I could make it but I'll be in Reno that weekend.
Dave - Beebs is at the Las Positas golf course in Livermore.

Tom, my friend Chris and I will be taking my car. If possible can we meet you somewhere between 680/580 and the new bore off 680 somewhere? We will have already had breakfast before we leave.

Dave - I am thinking the Orinda on ramp onto 24 west although we might be breakfasting in San Ramon and you meet us there. I will workout more details later this week and post them here. Thanks for making the effort to join us. I am also trying to figure out locations to meet prior to the east side of the Bay Bridge and somewhere in San Francisco/Colma for those not making the entire trip. Tom

It will be a great ride, new bore, new bridge, and new tunnel. Hope I can sit in the car that long!

Good point Dave. First race is at 1:10 pm. We should be long gone by then but I am doing some Recon this week, hence "schedule is subject to change". Thanks. Tom
I checked with the AC folks. They have nothing located on T.I.

Please RSVP ASAP
Rather than Alice's, we will be lunching at the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company in Princeton, a great "Beach Bar". We will have separate outdoor seating and a dedicated parking area (even if we may need to double up a little). It is forecast to be a beautiful day (HOT inland) so a coastal drive should remind us why we have these cars.
The time between breakfast and lunch will be on the short side, so plan on a light breakfast (or lunch). Please be on the watch for a note from Monster regarding our point of departure - it will be wherever the East Bay Group will be gathering (San Ramon or Livermore). Departure time is still set for 9 AM.
After lunch, it is only a few minutes south to Half Moon Bay and plenty of funky shopping. While Main Street will have little parking, going one block east (to the left) should provide plenty of public parking.
Going home for most people will be easy via CA 92. There is both a Chevron and Shell station on Main Street. Alternatively, you may want to head south to San Gregorio or Pescadero and then up CA 84 for a splendid trip through the trees to Alice's and beyond - or even on to Santa Cruz via CA 1.
In order to make sure we have enough tables and parking spaces, please either post here (or send me an e-mail/PM) that you expect to join us. I understand that things come up at the last minute, but please let me know if you are "pretty sure" you will attend (and then cancel if you must). Also let me know if you expect to have a co-pilot.
Tom
Judging from the photos/video of the "New" span of the Bay Bridge, we can expect a spectacular drive across. Have your co-pilot video the experience and bring a still camera for a Treasure Island photo shoot (details are still being worked out). Also remember, no loud noises in the tunnels .
Don't forget your Fastrak for the Bay Bridge.

The lunch in HMB has drawn surprising interest from my wife, so put her down for a definite maybe. I will be there, but am not sure how much of the cruise I can participate in. Might try to join the caravan around Pacifica.
