Road to Alice's from Saratoga
Cruised up to Alice's this morning and found that Caltrans is preparing the first 5 miles of Highway 9 for long term road work. They were installing a traffic light at the beginning, so I anticipate a one lane road for quite a while.

I am going to head up to Clements this weekend as I have never been there. It's been a while since I have hooked up with the guys up that way!

A single lane for a short stretch would be OK, but if the roadwork creates a pebbly, oily mess... Driving to Clementines on freeways doesn't inspire me although the food sounds real good. Maybe we could find an alternative place for breakfast (Ben Lomond, Boulder Creek, Santa Cruz, ???) until the roadwork is completed.

If there is no mess, just construction, we will just have to leave a little earlier to avoid traffic and bicycles.

Yeah, first Saturday of every month for the Menlo Park event. And another new one is every 4th Saturday at Santana Row - on the Row this time, not in the parking lot. Notice said "exotics only", not sure exactly what that means. Second Saturday is already crowded with Canepa and Club Auto Sport.

It's called Cars & Croissants.
Mostly exotics such as Mazerati's, Lamborghini, Ferrari's, McLaren's, etc. I saw Tim, with his blue 289 ERA at the first event last month. I couldn't hang around today for too long, but they close off downtown Menlo Park's Santa Cruz Avenue on the 1st Saturday of the month. There's a guy with a replica Porsche 550 who wears the whole 1950's garb, which to me, looks a bit ridiculous. But to each his own.

Road Report 5/14
I drove back from Boulder Creek on CA9, down Big Basin Way today and saw plenty of signs that warned of roadwork, but saw no roadwork underway. The pavement was intact, no oil, rocks, etc. As a matter of fact, I was returning from Boulder Creek on Bear Creek Road in order to avoid the construction on Big Basin, but was turned back because of a power line down near Presentation College. Anyway, the drive was nice even with the backtracking on Bear Creek which is one great road to drive...back and forth, even.

Enter 9, 35, 84 on this CalTrans link and it appears this work is limited to 1-way controlled traffic during daylight hours M-F. Weekends should be clear!
