Bellwether Farms Fieldtrip and Cooking Class
with Chefs DJ and Kent Nielsen
Saturday, April 20, 2002 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM $140
This trip was such a success last time we went, we decided to re-visit with a couple new twists. Bellwether Farms and the Callahan Family Ranch is located in Sonoma County. The family operates a sheep ranch focused on raising the finest grain fed lamb available. This led to interest in breeding dairy sheep for cheese making on the farm.
They make a line of very special aged artisan cheeses as well as fresh and aged cow milk cheeses. Our trip will begin at Ramekins Sonoma Valley Cooking School at precisely 10:00 AM where we will board our private coach to take the short trip to Bellwether Farms. We will tour the ranch and taste the delicious selection of quality hand-made cheeses. Then we will return to Ramekins having procured our ingredients to take over their training kitchen and conduct our own cooking class.
The meal will focus on Bellwether Farms products including their artisan cheeses and quality lamb. We will then dine on the succulent creations paired with wine. Some accommodations are available through Cooks & Books & Corks. The event should end around five or six.
You could cruise up to Sonoma park the cars and go drinking and eating in the bus....allow time for the wine to digest return to Sonoma and either drive back or spend the night if that works. Reach out to D.J. and Kent for details and reservations.
Last year some of the wives asked for additional things to do that would be more fun for them.......
Best Regards,
