Norcal-SAAC mini nats
It looks like there will be some changes this year. They are adding the drag strip event and added Shelby only parade laps. Since I haven't participated in the track events I did enjoy the offsite winery tour and the parade laps. I hope that in future both of these will be added again.

I have attended the Mini-nats the last couple of years and had a great time "hanging in the pits, socializing, looking at the cars, watching the "racing" and taking the parade laps with my boys. It's to bad that they are changing the format, is there a reason behind this "shelby" only change for the parade laps? ( I'm guessing it might have something to do with th number of cars and the type of cars that went out for laps- vans, pick-ups even..... CHEVY's ) Does this mean that cobra replicas can run on the track during track time, but can't be on the track during parade time??Hummm. I'll probably still go up it just won't be quite as much fun.

This year represents the 20th anniversary of the start of Mini-Nats, and so it is expected that this will bring out some old Shelby's that don't normally attend this event. Given how big this event has become over the past few years, Nor Cal SAAC is planning a few special things to lure these old Shelby's. I'm ok with this...

I always thought that they should allow only club cars on the parade laps. This would eliminate the SUV's and motor homes etc. Renee and I always enjoyed the parade laps and visiting the winery . My only guess that they are making the event more friendly to the track participants.
Re: parade laps
I spoke to Lewis Downs and Randy is correct because it is an enducement to get more real cars to the Nats.
Stan
Anyone interested in visiting a winery or two after the car show or on Sat?

This Mini Nats (20th) is a very big deal to the club, and, as said above, they want the biggest turnout of original cars they can get, this being the 20th anniversary and all.

I visited the SAAC site and did see that this is the 20th anniversary and understand the change in parade laps. I hope it does bring out more "originals" it's always great to see them.
While I was on the SAAC site I also noticed the information on the Historics. They are suggesting that folks get their own tickets and to contact the SAAC member (Lewis Downs) for paddock parking pass.
thanks,
Mike

Stan,
I talked to Elliot and we are making progress. I will have the new engine installed and time to shake it down in time to run at Mini-Nats. You know me and you I am always ready to visit a couple of Sonoma wineries.

Stan--
This is off topic , but a friend of mine is looking for a Mustang--thought I'd ask you if there is a web site (like Club Cobra) that he can hook into and start his search....
Thanks

Mark,
What kind of Mustang is your friend looking for? Street cruser, raw restorable, or full track prepped and race ready? Either way call Brian Lee at Classic Motorsports at (916) 987-8321. He is located outside of Sacramento and has lots of contacts for 1964 1/2 to 1973 Mustangs.
Regards, FIA Mike

Mark, There are two local Mustang clubs. Have your friend contact the Bay Area Mustang Assoc. and Vintage Mustangs assoc. Fitz bought a fastback from a VMOA member.
