Anyone going to the City Diner Wed for the last Hot Rod night of the season???? Anyone know where you can get 92 Octane in SJC?

Hi Guppie,

Welcome to Club Cobra...

Sorry, I can't make it Wed, however here is a list to a Unocal station in San Jose that sells Racing Fuel. Other than that, I don't think that you are going to find 92 Octane.

Good luck,
Randy R...

were is the diner. is that the one at the corner of almaden and blossom hill. also what time is it. i would like to take a run over. the 76 at the corner of almaden ex. and foxworthy has the race fuel at the pump, and the one at cottle has it in 5 gallon jugs.

Guppie

This isn’t in the south bay. But, if you’re ever in the North Bay, you can find 92 at Sears Point Raceway. It’s even 10 cents a gallon cheaper than 87 here in Vallejo. I Think, that’s because 92 is considered an off road blend, so it doesn’t have all the taxes that regular hi-way gasoline has.

Take 101 to 85 south exit Almaden expressway, turn right on Almaden, turn left at the next light which is Blossom Hill then your 1st left into the parking lot.

Joe, I think you ment to say a right on to Blossom Hill (off of Southbound Almaden Expressway) then your 1st left into the parking lot. Thanks to all for the info on 92 Octane. I went into the 76 @ Almaden & Blossom Hill and asked about racing fuel, they had no idea what I was talking about. It may be a moot point anyway. The reason I was interested in the 92 Octane was because my engine was diesling after I shut it down. Now I am thinking that this is possibly from the wrong jets in the carb instead of the octane of the fuel. Mark C.

it is the 76 at foxworthy and almaden expressway just north of the one at blossom hill. on your other note, mine does the same thing. the guy i bought the car from said to put it in 2nd gear and let the clutch out a little when you shut it off. after doing some reading on the mallory ignition site, they suggest putting in a little diode between the alternator and starter switch which would get rid of that problem?.

'diesling after I shut it down" - I've got a idle selonoid that stops that from happening ;-) Works like a champ!

YMMV,

Mark,
It is used on the carb to set the curb idle.....when the ignition key is turned off so goes the solenoid (closes the throttle blades completely. For the 4150 holley the bracket # 20-17, Solenoid 46-51.
Both are holley #s
Come to breakfast saturday and I/we (Randy) will show you.

Thanks for the info Curtis. I have a Demon, will have to check if they have a similar solenoid. Electrical or vacuum? I found the carb had been rejetted for Ft. Collins (5000 ft.+). I installed baseline jets for sea level, still diesels on shut down. Have to work the next 4 Sat, don't get a Sat off 'till 10/25. Will make breakfast then, maybe schedual will change & can come sooner. Thanks for the help. Mark.

Electrical,
Check your timing, and idle RPM. Too advanced or too high idle could cause run on.

UP UP and AWAY! se you then
