Can you get the paint code from ERA?
Maybe our shop can help...

I have a chip in the passenger door,(upper corner where the door meets the rear fender)
the door was loose and I did not know it when I shut the door bam! It went into the firerglass.
A small chip half the size of a dime.
I had a local shop look at it and his price was fair but I dont trust him he is an insurance shop. Yes I can get the paint.
You will have to repair the glass, blend the corner then clear the door...

Mike ,

Could you ship the door to Conn where it was originally painted, was Tony the original painter of your car? Package the thing up to survive the worst and insure it with fed-ex over night service.

Default Chip repair

Hey Mike,
as we discussed at STTL, I believe you would be better off having the small chip repaired in a tight area blend on that little inside corner vs. having the entire exterior door repainted.

If the entire door gets repainted off the car it probably will not match; even if Tony paints it. Air temp, humidity, original mix and all play a part in it the color, clear, and fleck match. Also, shipping a door could just end up with even more damage for you...

If all else fails, you can contact Mike at Advanced Auto Cosmetics/Colors on Parade in Carmichael CA. He repairs chips for MBZ, Porsche's, BMWs. He's got one dent/chip repair painter in there that can really blend small / tight areas... Tell Mike I sent you.

Thanks,
Dwane I would like to have the corner blended and the whole door clear coated.
As far as the place in san carlos I know where that is I will check them out but I think there prices are VERY high.

Mike-
Sorry to hear about the scratches. But if I were you, I'd tell the daughter if she does it again, she'll have to live in that wagon. You know, I don't have any kids yet, but I was putting the car in the garage last night and this thought went through my mind "If I had a kid and they road their bicycle into the car, what would I do?" I decided not to think about it since it is a few years away.
On a similar note, when I was a kid, I had a minibike (solid frame, no suspension or brakes with a Briggs & Stratton motor) and I was in the driveway facing the garage, gave it a little gas and - -Wham-- throttle sticks wide open. I went full speed into the garage. The only thing that stopped me was that I got wedged between the rear fenders of my Dad's TR4 and mustang. Amazingly there was no damage, but I thought for sure I was in trouble. I guess on balance, it was still better than the time I set the garage on fire, but that's a story for another day . . .

Chappy,
funny story. Believe it or not, same thing happened to me on a mini-bike when I was Six. My Dad was holding it, running, I got over excited to see what it would sound/feel like, reached over to the throttle ... it went wide open pulling me behind it like a kite until I slid right in under the back of a parked Nova - wedged between the gas tank and the ground. I was in shorts with gravel scrapes and all. That was just the beginning of my mini-cycle ventures... See Ya.
