Gee, and here all this time I thought it was going to be a new Cobra by Ford with Shelby's name on it.

I was just guessing that there may be one since the Autoweek article. They indicated that Shelby with Ford may make a Shelby as well as the
Ford GT.

Shelby just may have a hand in the making of some Mustangs.
Like in the 60s. Not all the Mustangs were Shelbys, only some were.
Hope it happens again.

With the likes of Saleen, Roush and SVT, I doubt if there would be a market for Shelby to compete. What possibly could Shel bring to the table that performance guru's of Ford and these guys don't already have? If some believe it is name and history, well I afraid these guys have certainly made more of a mark in the modern performance car market than Shelby could ever create both on and off the track. Shelby may have some irons in the fire on the GT-40 project but I don't see anythig in the future for a rebirth of a Shelby Mustang other than another badging or Eleanor project.

With the 2005 new mustang having both a new and retro look, it seems it would be easy to come up with a new 350 GTor 500 that would pick up a good following. Who knows, maybe Hertz will bring back "rent a racers"

Nothing really surprises me anymore but I am just questioning other than cosmetics and name, what performance characteristics such a car could offer to seriously cause Ford to want a competitor to SVT Cobra or Saleen? As I recalled, there was already one GT-350 project introduced in a late model and it was no big deal from a performance standpoint. In fact it may have been the reason for some of the Ford vs Shelby lawsuits during this period over the use of the name. So unless it is an SVE project led by the SVT it would make no sense for FORD to establish another design and development team to support such a car. Smells like another Eddie Bauer Edition IMHO.

Just what we need...
Another jellybean. Sorry but they are just plain Jane unattractive IMO
Now the late model Z 28 Camaros are decent looking cars
