A loving, understanding wife first.

Bill,
She does peek over my shoulder, so I know when to watch my manners. She knows....once that son of ours is born, she's going to lose him to the Cobra/hot rod/classic car obsession anyway. Dad and son will be off doing car stuff! OK, that's just a dream....

Of all people, you should know it takes a very patient and understanding wife to put up with guys like us. You trade cars so often, I'm surprised she hasn't flipped out. Or has she just given up? I give Kara, your wife, and all the other wives/girlfriends lots of credit for putting up with us.

Steve

Oh, the wife of 25 years definitely came first! She was out there holding the drop light and handing me tools when we were dating. And nothing has changed. She still helps me with all of my projects, and there is no one else I would rather have with me, never know when "something might come up" and you need to take a break

She also looks as good or better than when I married her-haven't heard any complaints from the Houston bunch they would rather talk to her than me

The wife has always supported my toys (motorcycles, hotrods, boats, etc.) and was the one that said, "If we can figure out a way to pay for a cobra, then lets do it".

I've never figured out why she puts up with me, but I'm not about to ask

Kinda at the same time-- just got remarried-- sold my own house,
moved into hers- bought the cobra- She came home from work, and I told her 'we' just bought a cobra-- Her reaction " A cobra !! I HATE SNAKES !!"- I knew I was safe! BUT she did make me sell my twin turbo RX7 !!-Said I couldn't drive both at once.So
in the long run ,it worked out fine-she loves riding in it but can't drive it-plus cars are 'guy' things !!!

However, during my best man's speech he said "Cobra before Kids"....and that's the way it turned out. I realized a long time ago that on my salary, if one has kids prior to purchasing a Cobra, then you usually have to wait 18 years before getting one. No thanks. I want to enjoy this car while I'm in my prime!

Which Wife?

I had to try a few wives before finding one that could put up with my need for speed. I have been with wife four for 25 years. She has known all along that I got a taste of the real thing in 1968 and have dreamed about it ever since. Several years ago she bet me a Cobra that I was wrong on something. I won, she tried the model thing, Nyet! No Way Nada!!. We settled on kit and not the original. She was worried that if I insisted on the original she would have to take up a second career most likely of ill repute. She was patient during the build and is now always ready for a ride and we have had a blast playing in the car. She had no idea what speed was all about or that driving a car could get so much attention. I have been encouraging her to get behind the wheel. She is a little intimidated, but she will eventually drive it and do well. She learned down hill skiing on my account, was afraid at first but is now as good a skier as me.

I had a friend that had an original that he built from pieces and parts (nice build) and then lost it to a divorce. One of the saddest stories I know.

Definitely invest in a good wife first it makes the rest easy. Collecting ex-wives is a very expensive habit. I lost enough on three divorces to pay for an original.

Default Hmmmmmm

I actually knew my wife to be for 32 years before we tied the knot....I guess I had to make sure she was on board with the Cobra before I would marry her!

I bought my Cobra in 2001 and just married my sweetheart in August of 2003....and yes.....the Cobra was in the pre-nup

I'm thankful that they're both Keepers!!
