Scott Greg and I are going to scope out Bajis and Sky Kitchen tomorrow morning at 8AM. After we do our due diligence, we'll post our findings here this weekend. If they both look good for the breakfast, the group can decide on the venue. Stay tuned!!

Bajis' sure looks good to me. Scott may like getting up at the crack of dawn, but as a civilized [somewhat] person, I think a *little* more sleep is a good thing. Rich

Thanks to everyone for their interest and input on our first BACC - West Bay Breakfast. I am really looking forward to having a closer, later venue for this get together for the Peninsula and South Bay crowd. Looks like most of you preferred Bajis' cafe for our meetingplace due to the good location, and ability to see the cars from the restaurant. Due to the short notice, it looks like we will have about 10 or so cars for this Saturday. We'll schedule the follow-on breakfasts with greater lead time and regularity to boost attendance. I will also post this on www.bayareacobraclub.com. Arrival time for the first one will be 7:30ish while we figure things out at Bajis'. However, the goal will be to avoid the dreaded 6AM alarm clock on Saturday, so we'll aim for a later 8AM or 8:30AM start going forward.

Meeting Time: 7:30AM
Meeting Date: Saturday, 7/24

See you there!!

Chris Rogers

This sounds great. I don't have a car yet but want to come and get ideas. Obviously I missed this post. Let me know how it went yesterday.

Heard from some people about early morning Cobra sightings on 101 Saturday. How did it turn out. Good first time draw? I made mention of it to a few friends.

Thumbs up West Bay Breakfast - great turnout!

The breakfast was a success beyond anyone's expectations. We all sat on the patio at Bajis' within inches of the rumbling cars as they arrived. 15 cars showed up, many with 2 people, so over 20 people were in attendance. There were no cars "polluting" the display of parked Cobras, so it was truly an awesome sight. Everyone had a great time. I will post photos here shortly. We will definitely be doing this again!!

Chris,

Thanks for putting together the "West" Bay Area Cobra breakfast. We had a nice time and enjoyed the ride back on El Camino afterwards. It was a pleasure meeting you and the others.

Scott was right; Bajis' is a great place for our breakfast. I can even get another hour of sleep Saturday morning. Ahh. With the awning, we could even eat outside during the rain. Wait a minute, I don't have a top. Never mind. Rich

Wow, what an outstanding turnout we had at the first ever West Bay Breakfast for the BACC! The West Bay was represented from San Francisco to Corralitos. I am not sure if we could have had a more perfect venue than Bajis's Cafe. Big thanks again to Scott Douglas for finding it for us! I was particularly pleased by the outdoor seating and the proximity to the cars. I also liked how we had the parking lot and the restaurant all to ourselves. It looked more like a car show than I'd have thought. I think we also had a good group dynamic, with some spouses, Cobra newcomers, etc.

I think everyone was also pleasantly surprised by the turnout of 15 Cobras, many with 2 passengers and a Lotus? thrown in for good measure. But I digress. I would like to continue to have this as a regular event, with similarly successful results. I was initially concerned with how this might effect the Dublin Breakfast, but my concerns have been allayed by the following observations: (1) Many of you expressed to me that you only rarely make it out to Dublin due to its proximity. At least one couple had never driven out to Athens at all, and did not plan to. (2) I would propose to do it less often than once per week, which would further minimize any impact that we might have on the attendance at Athens' Burger. I also think a monthly or bi-weekly schedule will promote better attendance and allow people to plan for the date. My suggestion would be to do it on the first Saturday of every month. Some folks have suggested the first and 3rd Saturdays of every month. Let me know if you have any thoughts here.

Another idea - this one will fall into the category of "love it or hate it" - name tags. I personally am terrible with names, and I think it safe to say that many of us were meeting for the first time on Saturday. Would folks be open to wearing name tags, at least for awhile? I think your Cobra's "cool factor" will more than compensate for the implied "dork factor" that comes with name tags. Thoughts?

Please take a moment to reply.

Thanks,

/Chris

Chris: My preference would be the first and third Saturdays of the month. And as dorky as they may be, I like the idea of nametags. They are especially useful for new folks. Rich

Chris,

Name tags are helpful. May I suggest that the printing be large enough so that us old farts can see it without our reading glasses.

Maybe someone out there has a contact in the industry so the nametags can be professionally made on a heavy duty base with the BACC emblem on it and we can keep them in our gloveboxes. If they are nice enough, people are probably willing to pay a few bucks if they look sharp enough. IMHO

Tom
