How many days will the 500 SB-100 slots last?
In 2004 it seems like the 500 specially constructed vehicle sequence numbers lasted until February. I think it was 40 days.
How many days do you think they will last in 2005?

They should last at least two weeks.

Man you guys are tough. I think you are right though. There are a lot of cars that have been on the sidelines and a lot of owners just finding out they are eligible, take into account all the new cars...
Why is it when there is a new homeless program or free medicine for poor people they set up an entire bureaucracy to deal with the issue, place full page ads in newspapers and take out radio and TV spots, but when it comes to helping those who provide all the funding for these worthy programs we are looked on with suspicion.
If you don't know the background of SB-100 it is worth looking into. It was a Cobra owner and State Senator who got the run around...

Well I've done all I can do. I think I'll watch the frenzie build and see who wins...

I think I'll play devil's advocate here and say the big push to register older, improperly registered mostly played itself out in '04.
I'd be willing to say that we won't even be half way through sequence numbers by the end of Feb.
That is, until the street rod guys get hit hard!

Actually, these are the exact reasons why I say, "two weeks".
1. It is my guess that many more titles got "yanked" by the DMV this year from the AG's continued investigation than last year. Last year, the DMV held 100 Sequence Numbers for these corrections - this year, I wouldn't be surprised if the DMV holds back 200.
2. With the AG's search of Boyd's shop and with the DMV's open investigation of faudulent VIN verifications, my guess is that the Hot Rod guys are already lined up.
3. And what about those who wanted Sequence Numbers last year after mid-Feb, but were too late? That's 10 1/2 months of Hot Rod & Cobra building AND buying - how many bot Hot Rods & Cobras from out of state that need a Sequence Number to be re-titled as an SPCNS?
Two weeks...MAX!
YMMV,
Randy R...

I agree that the 500 numbers will go very fast. However, I thought they would all be gone in two weeks last year and I believe it took until the end of February to hit 500. So, maybe a month this time? What is my prize if I am right?
I finally got my actual hard copy title from 2004 in the mail last week. So, I am really SB100 legal after about 1 year! Thanks once again to Randy Rosenberg for helping me keep the faith and pursuing the DMV all this year. Without his input, I would have sold my Backdraft out of state as my original SB100 registration attempt was rejected by the DMV.
If anyone wants some help or input about SB100, contact me, as I have been through the whole process from the inside out! First suggestion is to be ready in early January. Have your paperwork in order, get an appointment with the DMV (online), show up on time, and don't take no for an answer!

Same as me Skip, you get to be thankful you aren't in line on Jan. 3rd.

Hmmm...
So I was off by a factor of 10. I was never any good at the metric system.
I guess I should have run a 3 4 5 and 5.5 DAY poll. All SPCNS numbers are gone as of 4 pm Jan. 4th 2005.
Better luck next year,

500 numbers gone in only two days?!? That just isn't right. In 2002 they weren't all used - in 2003 they were gone by June 12 - 2004 - exhausted on Feb 27 - 2005 by Jan 4.
Something has to be done!

How long do you guys think, the SB-100 numbers will last in 2006?
I bet the lines will look like buying tickets to a Roger Whittaker concert on January 2nd.
