Just asked a question. I appreciate your looking into it in any case. My initial question was a local one, asked in the BACC. Because someone works at that terminal, someone has seen my head. As for contacting someone locally, that would be a beautiful thing, except the numbers are unlisted and nobody wants to "let" me drop in at the terminal without notice. I will be going to see them tomarrow. I'm sure they've been tripping over this thing since it became separated from it's shipping sleeve. Hopefully someone matches the description with the lost inquiry.
The trouble is getting to the person who knows. Like many firms Fedex shipping terminals have unlisted numbers with names and locations kept confidential, for good reason.
As for me... I happen to work for about the largest engineering firm in the world. 27,000 people world wide. I have access to every persons name and private office number for any of thousands of offices worldwide. I may or may not be able to share that information but I can make the call. We screw things up all the time. I promise you (all of you) even you freddie that if something you have a personal interest in were ever mired in the buracratic nightmare that is corporate america at my firm I would motivate someone to do something...
The fact is I have been lied to and by at least three Fedex Ground employees in the past week. I blame nobdy for losing my head. I absolutly blame them for lying to me (and from the responses in Consumer Watch many of you as well).
I'm guessing "airbills" are generated for ground shipments too? The heads were pagaged one per sleeve under two different tracking numbers. Anyway thanks for looking into it.

Great, you've said your piece, Mike, and I think we've all been there. Frustrating as he!!.
And I realize your sig commentary is against a corporation while Freddie's is more personal in nature. Escalation's a b!tch.
I think folks were trying to be understanding and helpful, but you still don't have your package.
But how about we drop the respective sigs...pretty please?

Jamo...well, oookaaaay...I'll change mine, if you insist...but I rather liked the witty repartee between Mike and myself. But, I understand that appearances are everything.... I'll fix it...
Mike...since I wasn't involved in this escapade, I can't say they lied to you or not with any certainty. All we have is your side...and I'm not doubting it, but I'd like to know both sides of the entire story before I accuse anyone of lying. Oh, and BTW...we have 27,000 employees, too...HERE IN MEMPHIS ALONE..! We're 360,000 plus world wide! Plus, the trucking end of our business, FedEx Ground, is another company owned by FedEx, and I'm not even associated with that company. When I want to be sure something gets there on time and gauranteed, I ship FedEx Express...overnight. It's a little more expensive, even with my discount, but it's worth the coin for the guarantee.
Now...have you called 1-800-Go-FEDEX and explained your lost cyclinder head...? I think you have, but have you talked with them recently? There may be later information that coujld help us find your missing head. I'll drop you an offline email with a manager's name at Sacramento, soon as I can find it.
Finally, were you the shipper, or were the heads ordered from someone else?
If so, who...?

Thanks Freddie. I was the the recipient. I have filed a missing package inquiry with the 1.800.go.fedex folks. I have called them 4 times. I will call them tomarrow (7 days after the scheduled delivery) as well as stop by the terminal tomarrow.
The last time was somewhat productive, that was when I got the missing package trace started, after getting the run around the initial 3x. Head was sent back, head was destroyed, head was actually lost, etc.
Thanks again,

Thank You Jamo. Sorry I opened a can of worms.
Freddie looked up the location in Sacramento and it's classified even to him. I went to the location specified and the place is like a fortress. No armed gaurds I could see, but probably snipers from the roof. Plenty of cameras and barb wire.
I was able to get a handle on the Sr. Manager at the location from of all places a Kansas city news story about the zillion packages that went through the facility over the holidays.
I e-mailed him and called the customer service number a couple more times. I requested a call back from someone at the terminal, zilch, nada, nothing...
I can't get the head I do have to eat. He seems like he's lost hope. I hope I get spot the pet head back before it's too late.

Spot has been found!
Spot has been found! You can take down the missing head fliers off your mail boxes.
After getting the run around from 1.800.Go.Fedex for a week, with a half a dozen unreturned calls I started looking for people who work at the facility.
On Friday the 21st I ran a Nexus search on Fedex Ground Sacramento. It came up with an obscure news report from Kansas City of all places in which a Senior Terminal Manager for the ground location in Sacrameto was quoted and named. Bingo... right. Not really Fedex is big on internal security for good reason. Searching out employees is frowned on.
I finally found an obscure listing on a job bulletin board with the terminal managers e-mail contact address. (they need an admin clerk in Sacramento BTW, $12. p/h and bennies)
I contacted him via e-mail last Friday asking for his help. Today I received a reply... Spot is alive and well, living at the "overstock station" in Ohio. He will be on his way back tomarrow.
Thanks for all who looked, especially Freddie who went out on a limb to help.

Damn how I love it whan a plan comes together....!
Seriously....SCOBRAC, this is exactly what I had feared: that your cylinder head had fallen out of the box somewhere between origination and destination, and then the container the box was loaded in, or the truck that held the container was on it's way to some completely different location....not even remotely associated with the origin and destination locations. Looks like this was the case.
I'm, first of all, sorry for your misfortune. Secondly, I'm extremely sorry you were lied to, and I encourage you to document your story - complete with names, dates and times - and send it to FedEx Customer Service. You will get a response, and probably some freebies out of us....we routinely send out free shipping certificates to folks who we've "done wrong"!
Lastly....sure am glad you found 'Spot'....! I know you are, too...!!
PS...now, call your supplier/vendor, and tell them what a sh!tty job of packaging they must have done to allow one of the heads to come out of it's shipping packaging! Ultimately, they could have prevented all this from happening had they packaged 'Spot' up better.
