Default Half Moon Bay Lunch "SUPER SECRET MEETING INFO"

This is the "Official Super Double Secret BACC Half Moon Bay Lunch Meeting Info"

For those who want to meet at "Athen's Burger " in Dublin, a group will leave Sunday Morning 7/10 at 11:00 a.m. for Half Moon Bay. We'll go direct via 580>238>880>92 and pull directly into downtown Half Moon Bay to give the co-pilots a chance to shop around for about 45 minutes before lunch at 1:00.

There's been a suggestion from the South Bay (SBACC) to hang out a while on the beach across the street after lunch. Maybe bring a chair and a bottle of grape juice.

We're looking for suggestions for an scenic route home!!!!!

C'ya there.

Hey Larry,

There's been some discussion on another thread here on CC about an alternative meeting point at the Park'n Ride near the intersection of 280/92. This would be a good meeting point for those starting this cruise from the mid-peninsula or there abouts.

I like the idea of bringing lawn chairs and beverages - this will consume valuable storage space which in turn will force limits on the co-pilot's shipping "Sorry, dear, can't buy that - we have no room in the Cobra to bring it home, and h*ll if I'm paying shipping!"

What do ya think about the alternative meeting point?

Thanks,
Randy R...

As a Peninsula guy, my suggestion would be to meet at lower Skyline and 92.

Assuming you are on 92 headed west, you will be in the left lane as you approach 280. You will proceed through the stop light under 280 (this the light for Canada Road) go up a brief rise and then head down toward the reservoir. There is a stop light at this intersection (no more than ½ mile past 280), with lower Skyline going north. This is a popular place for folks to park although I do not believe it is formal Park-n-ride location. The stop light affords the opportunity to have the waiting cars fire up and/or the group to pull over.

I don't know if Randy is referencing this area or the parking area at Canada Road as it is truly at the intersection of 280 and 92.

I would not recommend the top of 92 at Skyline, although there is a turnout at Skylawn Cemetary that could handle a lot of cars, as you are dealing with merging a bunch of cars into the flow of traffic.

I wish that we did not have a prior commitment so that we could join you. Sounds like a great time. Thanks again to Larry for coordinating things.

Just my 2¢

Tom

P.S. Scenic ride home - what about heading south on Highway 1 to Pescadero (Highway 84) up to Skylonda (lots of motorcycles and cops) down 84 into Woodside and follow 84 to 101 and then down to the Dumbarton Bridge and east from there? Just another option on the Peninsula side.

Please be aware that we are looking at a west Bay trip, probably in early September, that would start with breakfast at 35 & 84 (Alice's restaurant), head to the coast with lunch in the general Santa Cruz area. Still working on those details - more to follow.

Hey Larry,
If you get time, check out this web site www.pashnit.com/motoroads.htm It shows all the back roads around the hills. What time is everybody thinking of meeting at 280 and 92?

Thanks Tom,

I was just following up on a post from Tony who suggested a park'n ride where 280 narrows to 2 lanes, right before the reservoir. I'm flexible - sounds like the spot just rigth at or just past the intersection of 92/Canada Road is winner.

Sorry you can't join us this time, but the trip in September is gonna a be good one.

Thanks,
Randy R...

Randy,
If there is a group leaving Athens at 11:00am they should get to 280 and 92 around 11:45am? Does that soound like a good time to meet up?

Thumbs up

Scott, I plan on being at the 280/92/Canada Road alternative meeting point no later than 11:30 - maybe get there a bit earlier for a wee bit of socializing

Remember, their engines will be all warmed up by the time the Athen's group go thru the toll booths at the "San Mateo-Hayward Raceway"

See ya,
Randy R...
