Question Mkiii Engine & Transmission Selection

I will be buying a Superformance MKIII Cobra Kit.

I am interested in using Rouch Performance for my engine selection. I have it narrowed down to the 327R, 402R, or 427R. What is the difference in handling going from a 327 or 402 to a 427 engine considering the added weight and HP? I do not want to buy the 427 status engine to find I have blown the handling of the vehicle either. What about resale, relative to what I put in the Cobra now?

What is the difference between the Tremec 5 Speed and the Ford toploader 4-speed transmissions?

I would like to put A/C in this also. I am 6' 3" tall as well.

What other options should I consider?

What are the common mistakes one can make in putting it all together?

Thank you for your input as everthing is important at this point!!

Roger

Roger
Superformance makes "rollers", not kits. You or one of their reps puts in the motor and tranny. I'm tall too --- 6' 6" and about 260 lbs, but I've done some things to increase leg room and other stuff. I'll send you a PM with my tel # and we can talk some time.

Warren,

I am in the same boat as you 6' 4" here. Would be interested in hearing some of your tricks.

One thing that scares me is looking goofy, driving a Cobra.

Better yet, when is the next event you will be attending with the Cobra?

Thanks,
Chris

Talking Mk III

Roger

Congrats on getting a Superformance.

It is supplied as a "roller", namely everything built and ready except engine and transmission.

You may seriously want to consider the Ford Racing 392 engine, it is ready to go and more than will need. It can easily get away from you, tread softly. Tremec 5 is excellent and makes a very driveable and fast Cobra. Superformance are a trouble free deal.
I cannot see the effectiveness of A/C in an open Cobra. I fitted a hardtop for when we do trips with the wife. You may find it difficult to get in.

Difficult?????

Try making that IMPOSSIBLE !!!! At least for me.

They say that the Superformance is OK for people up to 6' 4". I'm 6' 6" and weight 260. SPF is the first Cobra I could get behind the wheel and actually drive it, after trying to fit in other "brands".
