Default WSCB Trip

I am planning to leave Thursday, meeting other cars at Treat exit frontage Rd parallel with the traffic scales at 10am. Rosemarie will be along and Joe Leonard from Pismo coming for the CAV GT40 stand.

I can take any bags etc on the truck for anyone. If you have extra bags call me (jhplace2@aol.com) and drop the bags maybe Wed, I will be returning Sunday.

It will be good fun and lots to do, see and great people to meet.

John

Thanks for the offer John. Karen and I will be packed tight for this one. I'll see you at the scales at 10 am, Thursday. Last year I made one stop around the Roseville area for gas and may need to do that again this year. There was a McDonald's at this one exit we took that can provide relief and coffee, etc. for those who may be hungry. Some of you guys coming up from San Jose may want to tank up in Walnut Creek(?) before getting under way at the scales. Just a thought.

Bill

Hi Guys

I think filling up twice makes for a good stop and rest.
We are not in any great rush.

A fun place to stop is Ikeda's Tasty Burgers in Auburn - Foresthill exit. As most of you know, they have a lot more there than burgers. There are also several gas stations located at this exit. It is about 100 miles between WC and Auburn. We should get there a little before noon. Zum: filling up in WC is a great idea for us west Bay people. If needed, Nut Tree is a good rest/fuel stop if one can not make it to Auburn.

John - Thanks for your offer!

Tom

Good idea Tom. Let's plan on that. Last stop for gas and grub before Reno!

Are we meeting at Crown Plaza or Treat frontage road - I don't care nor really know my way around there and am happy to meet either place. Someone who knows the locations, please pick - John's sounds like we don't have to go far off 680. Is there enough room and is there a Chevron station nearby?

Tom - the west Bay guy.

John Place tells me that there is room to pull off the street at the Treat Blvd./Geary exit. Instead of going to the truck scales upon entering the exit ramp, continue straight to the stop light at end of exit ramp. Go north straight through the light and there is parking on the side of the street. From there we can just get back on the freeway in 2-3 short blocks. There is a Chevron station 1-2 blocks west of the stop light. Just turn left instead of going straight, and the station(s) are on North Main Street. I'm going to do a drive by this week to check out and confirm all my directions that are only by memory from 12-24 months ago.

My name is chuck. I am along for the ride. I will be on vacation that week, so I am not allowed to make any decisions.

????????? Dear Chuck....I did the Treat Blvd/Geary Rd exit drive by. All is cool as John offered. There's room for about 6-10 cars to safely park temporarily along the red curb area. Shell and Chevron gas is just a block away on N. Main Street for those who are thirsty. Hey Tom, when we get close to the exit in Auburn you mentioned, lead us there as needed. Reno here we come!!

Suzanne and I will be leaving from Sonoma on Thursday a.m. and would like to join up as the group roll's off 680 onto 80. If that sounds ok, and someone in the group would give us an approximate ETA at I80, or cell phone call as you depart the Treat exit that would be great.

If we leave Walnut Creek by 11am, even with a stop at Ikeda's we'd be in Reno way before 3-3:30, which is probably check-in time. That would allow most of us to leave our houses around 9-9:30am which should avoid commuter traffic.
Where are we going to meet? I think we are going to have more than 6-10 cars, I'm good for two.

John is right on the money. Thursday is a travel day getting to WSCB for most everyone, and nothing planned but just getting there. We really don't even open check-in until after 3pm technically, and as long as you get there by 6pm or so - you are fine. RELAX, savor the drive and stops up along the way, even if it means making a few extra gas/rest stops just because. See ya there!
