Default Travelling to LA for a beer!!!!!

G'day All,

I am a fellow Cobra owner and beer drinker. My US geography is not that good, so I hope i am on the right site. I am dropping in for a few days next Month ( Santa Monica ) and was hoping for some advice on where to stay and where to go for Beer, car things and some local hospitality.........

Any advice would be appreciated,

Los Angeles is a ways from San Francisco but we still have beer I'm not real familiar with the watering holes but but Santa Monica is real close to Hollywood, Sunset Strip & all that good stuff. You shouldn't have trouble in that catagory.
As far as car events I usually hop up to La Canada Flintridge on Saturday mornings from 7-9 to check out the cars. Usually a good showing of Cobras (real ones too!!!) vintage rod's, American & European. You'll even see the odd GT & GT40 Replica's Ferarri's & Lambo. Good Stuff & about 25 miles from Santa Monica.

Let me know your dates as I have some travel in May. If available I would be happy to deliver you to some beer in a Cobra. Also the La Canada Sat. AM visit is a good one as well as Friday evenings at Bob's Big Boy in Studio City for Hot Rods, Classics, Bikes and Rat rods.

Lot of beer available in Santa Monica area.

Default Arriving Friday 26th May leaving Sunday 28th

Thanks Guy's,

As you can see its only a short trip (spending 2 weeks in Canada) and wanted to experience the US thing for a bit on the way home.

I will not have a car so i was thinking of staying in Santa Monica as its fairly central ( So I am told ) to the things I like.

The La Canada sounds right up my alley, its Bloody early, what will the average temp be while I am there??

Speak Soon,

STIFFY

By next month yer looking at mid 70's or better. We, hopefully, will be out of this rainy trend & back to normal Early? Is that relevant to our time, yours, or mixed up state you'll be in ...

Sorry I'm going to mis your visit. Will be out of the country from May 19th through the 29th or 30th. Weather will be great. If you need a map to get to the La Cananda "show" let me know and I'll email you one. What hotel are you staying at in Santa Monica?

Stiffy

Hi mate.

As you know I'm in the States at the moment.

You may try and get down to Crystal Cove. I was there a year of so back and they have a get together there - weekly I think.

It's a little south but someone may be going down there and willing to meet you etc.

I'm back in Aus. this weekend. Keep the beer cold till then!!

Bernie

Bob's, in Toluca Lake just west of the Burbank border, and as a good place as any to see a bunch of neat cars. And the La Canada Starbucks/United Artists theaters, at the northern end of the 2 freeway at the 210 freeway, is a neat place as well.

Stiffy

Yes should make the next meeting. Will bring all the unused/spare US dollars for you about $250!!!...

Re temps. Just double our C. temp. and add 30 and similiar in reverse. Take 30 off then 1/2....

70f less 30 = 40 /2 = 20c. Make sense...

Or just type Cel. to Fahr. into Google...

Default Stiffy Needs A Bed

Hi Hoppy,

I just need a bed (at least a double ) and thats about it.
A fridge would be handy. It must be clean and safe. I dont want for much.

But as I wont have a car it will need to be central.

Hi Stiffy: Have a great time on your short stay in the states. Find someone who belongs to the AAA (American Automobile Club) and have them get you some maps (free to them) so you can find your way around. The next time you and Bernie come to the states, try Northern California (400 miles north of LA), for superior race tracks (Laguna Seca, Sears Point, Thunderhill), great microbreweries and wineries. Even trees and white water.

Thanks again for your great hospitality on my visit to the Grand Prix last year. I always have a good time Down Under. Rich
