End of Summer Run - 9/9/2006 - Attendance?
After such a great time at the Tour de Vin, I realized that I better check locations for the End of Summer Run (aka the Santa Cruise). Rather than the San Mateo coast that so many enjoyed last year, I thought a change of venue would be interesting. With that in mind, I am suggesting the following:
East Bay folks - depart Athens by 8:30 - having breakfast there or not.
Meet SF, Marin and Peninsula people at the Mill Valley Highway 1/US 101 intersection around 9:30. Non-East Bay folks could meet for breakfast in SF or southern Marin (suggestions?)
Head up Highway One, through Stinson Beach, Inverness, etc. stopping for lunch around 11:30 in Bodega Bay.
After lunch, most would head home via 101 through Sebastopol or Petaluma, perhaps stopping at a winery along the way - that is still in the works.
This would get most home in order to relax and head out that night.
The date is Saturday September 9th. I am looking for a head count of likely participants in order that I might coordinate with a restaurant and possible winery. Also if someone has suggestions about the route, especially any warnings, please post as well.
Please let me know if you think your attendance is a strong possibility or just a maybe and whether you expect a co-pilot. If we have general market acceptance, I will ask for a firm show of hands in the next few weeks. We are only about six weeks away - where did the Summer go?
Tom

It didn't melt Ed, it incinerated!
I'm a definite maybe. I'll have to check on Anne's work schedule and coverage for the kids.

Tom: I will be having dinner Saturday with a friend who lives in Mill Valley to see if the Dipsea Restaurant there would be appropriate for breakfast (parking is often tight - might depend on how many Cobras we'll have). I'll also be talking with my friend who owns a premium Winery in Forestville, which is off River Road, on the way back from Bodega Bay to 101. That would be a great place to visit if he's up for a visit from The Wild Bunch. I'll get back to you next week. Rich

Please put in two more heads, as long as the timeline holds up on the build and my car is truly done by the end of August.
Daryl, the car looks great!

Now that my car finally runs, I might be up for it. I'm supposed to have a sailboat race that day but I might try to make some schedule changes.

I'm in. Not sure about my co-pilot (wifey) but let's think positive, and call it two, for now!
