Curious
My wife was wondering if there were any other spouse/spouse equivalents wanting to ride up with her. She doesn't appreciate being cramped in a loud, smelly, noisy car.

Meeting Up
Hi Dave
Fry's sounds good to me- easy on/off freeway- and there is a new Starbusks 1 block away !! And gas at the same corner. Larry |

Dave,
We should meet there around 7 am since you like to get up early. Scott |
That's not funny! I'm assuming we need to be in Walnut Creek around 10am., so I propose leaving Fry's lot about 9am. That means I can get up at 8:45am.

Last year a bunch of us met up at the Starbucks and FLames in Milpitas at the Calaveras exit around 9:00am. Easy on and off the freeway.

Let's continue this discussion over here where it was started:

Last year we met at Starbuks around 9 then met the larger group in Walnut Creek at 10. I am going with this plan so far.

Meet Thursday off Hwy 680 at Kohls parking near Starbucks at 9am for group heading to Reno leaving about 9.30am
John Place |
What is going to be the official departure time from Walnut Creek:confused: . I ave heard 9:30am to 11:00am. I think we need around 45 minutes from the bay area to get there and fueled.
Scott |
The plan we discussed was same as last year plan to meet at 9am
Plan to leave about 9.45am and latest 10am. You know how there are always delays!!! We will plan a lunch stop and fuel and then arrive in good time in Reno as they only register from 3pm. John |
Ok, let me get the facts summarized so everyone is on the same page (I hate that phrase:) ).
What: Caravan to Reno. Who: Bay Area Cobras. Where: Kohl's parking lot in Pleasant Hill (not Walnut Creek). Take Monument Blvd. exit off of 680, look for a lot of little cars that are blue with white stripes. When: Caravan will leave at 10:00am Thursday morning (5/17). Is this correct Tom, Scott, and John? |
I have just posted on the WSCB Bay Area 2007 Caravan site to have all communication go here in order that we don't get crossed up on threads.
I did not attend breakfast this morning so you guys may have decided something then - if so, please post. As I recall we were scheduled to leave WC last year at 10 and in fact left a bit closer to 10:30 and still got to Sparks by 2:30. With that in mind, the suggestion was made that we leave promptly at 11 (i.e. arrive around 10:30-10:45) which would allow us to arrive right at 3, baring complications. This was done in part because the South Bay guys seemed to feel leaving there a bit later would minimize traffic for them. Scott, Greg, Dinobyte, Bill B., 4pipes. etc. - are you OK leaving WC promptly at 10 - or if it works for John and others, compromise and leave promptly at 10:30. I for one, could leave anywhere between 10 and 11 and will certainly go along with the group. While we could split the group, it is more fun to go as one. Please let us know if something was decided this morning and what time works best for all. Summarizing - leaving early means more morning commute traffic for those of us not in CoCoCo but a more leisurely stroll on the back end. Let's just let the President decide. |
Since I'm leaving from Saratoga, I would appreciate the later departure time, but I will do what ever the group decides. Getting up to 680 from my house can be nasty when leaving at 8:30am.

My .02--
Leaving later (11AM) make sense. South Bay guys can avoid traffic and join us. Stopping for lunch and then arriving in Reno when the registration booth is open seems reasonable....... Mark |
