I'll be there as soon as I can. I pick up my co-pilot at the Oakland Airport at 8:45 am Thursday. Barring no flight delays, we should be at Kohl's by 9:30 or so. Leave anytime after that. I recommend leaving at 10:30 sharp.

It would be nice...

If I were you guys and had the luxury to do so, and wasn't hauling a bunch of stuff and a trailer to the Bash, here is what I would do:

First, - Take the pressure off about being on time. Meet somewhere for a nice breakfast for an hour or more; gather up, have some fun just getting together. Let others flow in so you can achieve a larger caravan, depart by 11 or so.

Second - Pick a nice scenic route driving up, enjoy, take your time getting there. Smell the roses on the way up.

Third - Not be in a hurry, arrive whenever but not much later than 6pm as things start to buzz around 6pm there in the Corral and the Track Meeting is at 8pm.

Fourth - Take some pictures along the way. Stop a few times just for the heck of it. Make a scene somewhere. Last year, some of the best photos were taken by people getting to WSCB.

Remember, Thursday is casual arrivals and nothing is scheduled. Have fun, good luck, and we'll see you guys there! :D

Reno trip

I think it would be fine that we meet at Kohls around 10.30am and plan to leave at 11.00am
It seems that many guys find that a more suitable time, we should take it easy as there is no rush to get there.

I like the get there at 10:30 leave at 11 plan. Also I'll be meeting the SJ crew at Starbucks in Milpitas, did anyone pick a time yet?

Also anyone have a full size vehicle going with a little cargo room? I'd like to throw my car cover in if I can. It's a @#$@# to fit that in the trunk along with anything else.

OK--

Now that we seem to have the arrival/departure time fixed, the next question could be route??

We could take the fast way--680--80 all the way. OR, off through the valley and take 4, 88, 50 ???

My guess is that going up would the time for sight seeing, in that Sunday folks would probably want to go straight home...

Any thoughts??

I'm going to go up the fast route (freeway) so I can get my car teched early (around 4). I'm going out to dinner with relatives in Reno and then back for the 8pm driver's meeting.

Thanks to all for the 11 AM departure - those of us in the west and south Bay appreciate it. Dinobyte and anyone else from the mid-Peninsula, we plan to take off from OSH in Foster City at 9:45 - meet you on the west side of the parking lot. Please confirm by Wednesday that you can make it at that time and/or exchange with me cell #s (by private message is fine).

Regarding the route up - I suggest we leave that up to the group when we meet in Walnut Creek. I am not familar with too many alternates off I-80. It appears a fun route might be getting off at Auburn and going through Grass Valley and then back on to I-80 near Emigrant Gap - a route I have not taken and would take about 45 extra minutes (per Mapquest). Otherwise not sure of choices that don't involve considerably more time. Coming home on Sunday, as Mark suggested, may be the time to look for a more gentle ride.

Tom
