Default ???HELP: Tour de Vin Questions???

We are trying to get a jump on this years Tour de Vin and could use some input:

This year we are planning on holding the tour June 10. This date provides the fewest conflicts with other events while avoiding hitting another "hottest day of the millennium in July.

We are currently looking at a few regions within 2hrs of the east bay. These regions have nice quaint towns, good dining, nice affordable lodging (approx. $90-$120+/night)

Questions:

How many would be interested in an overnight?
Friday/Sat or Sat/Sunday?

Some schedule suggestions have been:

Tour & Taste till 2:30 then stop at a restaurant for no host lunch.
For those staying over continue a little more “Tour & Taste” to the hotel.
Group dinner @7:30 or so in the evening
Next day open for “mini- groups” to possibly golf, Spa, checking out the area sites or more tasting.

Comments on these options/suggestions will also be welcome.

Thanks- your tour committee

The boss and I would be open to an overnighter (Sat-Sun)...but no spa or golfing for me.

Mike,

I like the idea of an overnight stay. Sat/Sun would probably work best for me but I'd probably still participate if the majority wants Fri/Sat. Golf on the second day sounds good while the wives hit up the spa. Of course, my trunk won't hold my golf clubs. I assume arrangements would need to be made for someone to truck up everyone's clubs.

Sat/Sun sounds good Mike. I'm not a golfer, but would be up for some kind of side trip on Sunday. Let me know if I can help with this.

My wife and I would be interested in an overnight. Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun is OK. Golf or site seeing would be great.

Thanks for setting this up.

Mike,

Sat/Sun sounds great. Whatever else you guys come up with works for me. You always come up with a fun trip.

I'll be happy to help if you need a hand with any of the coordination.

Mike

Being a wine kind of guy, this sounds good to me. I like the two day option, although while some of you sweaty guys are swatting little balls, I'll be in the spa with the women. Or tasting more wine. Or both. Let me know if you'd like help selecting wineries. Some of the best wineries need advanced warning. Rich

Everyone,

Thanks for the input, it appears that overnight is by far the preference. We're still gathering area data and should have some information available soon. At this point the dates are pretty wel locked in for June 9 & 10.

Rich, thanks for your offer we'll keep you in mind .

Note: Tour de Vin is not only about the wines (though we try to find the best wines an area has to offer) IN FACT you don't even have to drink or enjoy wines to come on the tour. The Tour is about the people. We try to select areas with fun scenic roads and locations that can accomodate large groups and that have adequate parking/driveways. Unfortunately, the "best wineries" don't always have the best facilities......... To that end we make a number of trips to the area selected and meet with all of the wineries and stops on the tour so that they are prepared for our visit. We also drive the routes to try make sure they are suitable for our cars and to note any changes in the roads due to construction etc....

Thanks,
Mike
