**important: BACC Breakfast Change For This Sat Jan. 20 ONLY**
I've been asked to post the following for the BACC members:
Trial: Sat. Jan 20 ONLY
For sometime it has been requested that BACC membership try finding
another location for our weekly Saturday meetings. It's been long known
that the main reasons that we continue to meet at Athens Burgers is only
because:
* It has good parking
* It would be hard to get the word out that we are moving
We don't meet at Athen's Burgers for the menu/food. The quality level
has continued to hover at a just below acceptable. In fact, a number of
members elect to either not eat or instead stop on the way in to eat or get coffee elsewhere before stopping at Athens.
To that end, a group of members has set out on a quest to find an
alternative meeting location which offers:
* Good safe parking AND GOOD FOOD
The first option open for review is The Rock House Sports Pub & Grill in
Livermore :
This is the restaurant we used as the meeting place for last years Tour
de Vin. The management is willing to open early (7:30am) for BACC. The
menu is superior to Athens, being a sports bar there are a suite of TV's
which we can have tuned to racing or whatever channel we prefer or we
can even bring in a DVD of interest (PG-rated) . The parking lots are good sized and
at the early hour it is expected that BACC would be the only ones there
anyway
Address:
The Rock House Pub & Grill
1840 Portola Ave, Livermore, CA 94551
Time: 7:30AM
Please use google, yahoo, mapquest for map information.
Thanks (I'm only the messenger )
Mike

Cool. I'll be there Saturday. For those of you coming from San Jose, Rock House has the added benefit of allowing you take scenic route 84 rather than 680. That's a much better route for a Cobra.

Say it isn't so! I recall the wonderful food of Chef Palooka with great affection...
I guess the loss of their 3 star Guide Michelien status has hurt the Athens a bit...
Well I hope the watresses improve as well....
I'll be over to check it out soon
Steve

Mulv-As "they" used to say.........."This is only a test" Currently it looks like we will be back at Athens the following week
As for the waitresses .......it's a sports pub & grill, so the ambiance is definitely a a step in the right direction
Chris- your right about the alternate routes.....unfortunately, since we live in Livermore it will be surface streets & stop lights for us.
see ya,
MIke

the early hour (and currently the cold weather) is keeping me down in the south bay for my weekend car breakfasts. it'd sure be nice if this bay area meet rotated its way around the bay...

My car won't even be warmed up when I get there. Oh well, I'll sacrifice for the better food! Unfortunately I can't come this Saturday! See you at Athens.

Okay Tom,
I just checked Google maps and Corralitos to Athens is 72.7 miles, Corralitos to Rockhouse is 73.7. Isn't it worth going the extra mile for good food?
BTW: the same should hold true for anyone coming from the South bay, it's just 1 mile further to Rockhouse....according to Google.
see ya,
Mike

Since Nathan is afraid of a little morning chill, I guess that I'll be representing the Sunnyvale contingent. This will be my first Saturday breakfast since the very first one a few years ago.... My car is not painted yet, so I can park across the street if you guys don't want me hurting the BACC image.....
-Jon
P.S. If I'm not mistaken, SPF's come with a heater.....Nathan, you wimp!

We had a huge turnout. I counted about 60 people at breakfast. My omelette was fantastic. Service was pretty slow but they only had 1 waitress serving all of us (with a little help from another waitress at the counter). The girl that was helping us worked her butt off but still managed to keep a great attitude. I think they got a lot more people than they were expecting. With another waitress or 2, I think service would have been much better.
I'm not sure what everyone else thought. I'm hoping we decide to give this place a couple more tries with the expectation that they bring on a bit more help to keep the wait for food down to a minimum.

The turnout was much larger than I expected. Jon, it was funny seeing you and your daughter show up! Yeah, next time I'll call you and we can caravan up next time.
First, I have to say the 84 drive was great! Unfortunately, I got tied up behind a motor home trailering a couple of motrocycles. Still, it was a good trip; so much had changed since I last used 84 about 3 or 4 years ago (I didn't know about the Isabell street; that was new to me.)
The omlette at the pub was huge and I could not eat lunch and barely felt like eating dinner either! Yes, service was slow because I think they were nor ready for 60 people! Still, it wasn't bad. I'd go again but it was a bit chilly; good thing I wore thermal underwear.

Sorry I had to miss it. Sounds like a great time! I passed several people on Hwy 84 on my way to Fremont. Didn't see you though Herman...The motor home would have frustrated me!

Chris: I did see you on 84, I waved. So that was you! Jon saw you as well.
