End of Summer Run - 2007 - 8/28 update
Looks like we will have a pretty good turnout for the Third Annual EOS Run. Several folks will only be able to make breakfast at Alice's and not make the rest of the trip. While we would like to have you on the entire Run, some is better than none.
Alice's opens for breakfast at 8 AM (coffee is served from around 7:30). We want to leave Alice's by 9:30, so if you want breakfast there, please arrive between 8 and 8:15.
I am trying to get a head count for lunch. Thus far I have the follow guys who are bringing co-pilots - Dave V, Mike H, Joe C., Mike B., Chris H., Scott B., John Pe., Zoom, Randy and me. (20 people)
Solo is Dave B., Herman, Doug, Tan, Mark, Daryl and Cobrakids (7 people)
Uncertain if single or double - Badrich, and Ed A. (2-4 people).
Who else is planning on attending breakfast and/or lunch?
If I have not listed your name above (or the number is incorrect) please let me know as soon as you can if you are planning on attending the lunch.
Please look at my prior post to see more of the itinerary for the trip.
Looking forward to seeing you in about 'two weeks' and thanks for updating your attendance information.
Tom

Further update - different lunch stop
With the assistance of Tom Howland, we have changed the location for lunch. We will now be dining at The Heavenly Cafe - a few minutes back up the road. Unlike the first place that limited the number of choices for food, we will have the entire menu to choose from at HC. Food and atmosphere is simple, diner type stuff - burgers, salads, sandwiches, soup, etc. I have been promised individual meal tabs.
Let me know ASAP if you plan to attend and I don't already have your name. We are missing a large number of past attendees - hope you can make it.
Tom B.

Tom: I am afraid I may not be ready for this year's event. My rebuild has run into complications that I never contemplated, so I cannot commit at this time. If a miracle occurs, I'll let you know. Rich

possible detour and parking
Highway 9 in Boulder Creek may be closed for roadwork on Saturday - it is suppose to reopen by 7 AM - we would be driving through around 10 AM. We can roll the dice and take 35 to 9 to Scotts Valley with a possible detour or we can take 84 to 1 through Santa Cruz and back up 17 to SV. No detour means about an hours drive - the detour or drive along the Coast will add about 30 minutes. I am leaning toward the original plan but we can discuss the options in the morning when we may have a better sense of what is happening. It might be fun to take the detour regardless, just to add a little more drive time as a group. Opinions, especially from those with good local knowledge will be welcome. Departure time is planned for 9:30 AM promptly. If you want to eat at Alice's, get there early enough to allow for slow service.
PARKING AT ALICE'S - as in 2005, please park across Highway 35 from the restaurant and carefully walk across for breakfast. There is not enough room for more than two dozen cars in front and this way we can all park together and on level ground.
MEAL CHECKS - while I have asked for separate checks at both places, Alice's may only provide checks to each table. Please plan accordingly and don't give the server too much heat - we will have 45 people show up pretty much all at once and leave the same way - that is tough on any waitstaff. There is dining inside and outside at Alice's. Hopefully Heavenly can provide individual checks. Feel free to get to Alice's early - they have self serve coffee available at about 7:30.
PARKING at HEAVENLY - they have a small paved parking lot in front which is being blocked off for us. They won't have enough spaces for all of us (there is additional parking, but not right in front) so we may want to double up in front - again, please plan accordingly.
FUEL - there are no gas stations directly on 92 to 35. There are one or two stations west of 280 on 84 in the town of Woodside. There is a pump at Alice's - it is an off-brand. There are probably some stations on the way to Scotts Valley in Boulder Creek and Felton. There is a Chevron and Shell plus others in Scotts Valley near Canepa which in turn is close to Highway 17.
I have a friend who visited Canepa this July with the Porsche Club - he said it was an OUTSTANDING venue. Thanks to all who have made this possible, especially Tom Howland! Should be a great drive - keep an eye on the fog.

Laurie and I are going to Starbuck's on Kosser and will be leaving there about 7:30 for anyone who wants to meet us for the drive to Alice's. It's almost an hour from Starbuck's to Alice's, so that should get us there about 8:30.

There should be e few of us meeting at the new Starbucks on Bascom right at 85 around 7:00am. Should have enough time for a cup of coffee before heading out.
Dave,
I was thinking of heading up HWY 9 through Saratoga, but they are having an event downtown. Do you know if they are closing it?

Dave, I'm meeting up w/ the group at Starbucks Bascom. I can give you a shout on my cell (I think I still have your#) when we are leaving and meet up w/ you at the 76er. That's assuming we go that direction, are they closing downtowm Saratoga tomorrow?
Other Dave. Why don't you and Laurie meet up with at the Bascom Starbucks instead of Kooser? Mark

I called the city, they're closing Big Basin at 2pm tomorrow. What time do you think you'll be going up Hi9?
