Default BACC 2008 Calendar???

Just a crazy thought and I don't know if it has been tried by our club - would you be interested in creating/buying a calendar for 2008 with just BACC Cobras. My thought was to find 12 high resolution, interesting and tasteful photos of 12 of our cars (i.e. - your favorite photo (without people featured) that the group would want to see for an entire month.

Staples can print the calendars and including mail costs, they would sell for about $20-25 each - this with no additional overhead or profit included - Staples provides no discount for quantity - they provide a comb binding.

In order to put this together for 2008, it would have to be done quickly. Obviously we can produce more than 12 pictures - the selection of photos will be difficult and people will get their feelings hurt if not selected (there can always be next year!) .

If people are interested, I would be willing to head up the effort and establish some rules about the photos. I see the pictures being selected based on their quality, not based on who's cars they are. If this gets political, I will bow out and let someone else head it up or cancel it - I would just like to have a calendar with a bunch of our cars in it.

My suggestion is to limit these pages to just BACC cars for now, and make it available only to BACC members (this might change). I have never done this before, so I really don't know how much work is involved but am willing to try with your support.

Would you be willing to provide a great hi-res picture and/or buy a calendar? Any thoughts or concerns?

Tom

Great idea. But why not make the image for each month a montage of a few pictures? That way more pics (cars) can be included and less feelings hurt. And it would probably make for a more interesting month of viewing.

This is the kind of picture I was thinking of.

Most calendars only have one photo per month. While multiple pictures would allow more photos, they would each be smaller and perhaps less appealing. If this is a success, those not selected this year could be used next year.

Please let me know what you think of the concept and if you can contibute a hi-res (i.e. 5 megapixel or higher) photo and would be interested in buying a calendar. It would be great if you guys could discuss this at RH tomorrow as I will be at the west Bay gathering.

Great idea. Shutterfly might also be a good option, my wife has made me a couple of calendars with pictures of our son now that came out great. I just checked their pricing:

Calendar Price
12 months $19.99
18 months $24.99

Daryl - this is a great lead since they offer a substantial discount if we order 25 or more calendars and they appear to have a wire coil binding vs. the comb binding. Looks like we can save nearly $10 each if we get more than 25. Thus when figuring tax and mailing they ought to be under $20 each.

Default Wall Calendar update - 2008

In person, many of you have expressed interest in such a calendar. I will be collecting photos and/or $20 prepayments through November 20th. Monster sent an e-mail out to all BACC members with photo submission and ordering details. Let me know if you did not receive such an e-mail.

If we have any calendars remaining, I will make them available to non-BACC members (that way I might break even).

Feel free to send me a PM with any questions.

Tom

P.S. - The higher the pixel count the better - a file size equal to or greater than 1 MB should produce a nice print, thus culling them from CC will probably not produce a high enough resolution. Please send what you can to the address in Monster's letter.
