Richard,

Did you do all of this to KMPS 030? Car looks great painted and the FIA wheels etc. I was talking to Kurtis up in Oklahoma and he said you did a lot to the car. Yep should of kept this one.......live and learn. Maybe I'll find another one sometime. Also love your pics in the gallery of the 60s when you were racing the comp cars.

My mistake as I actually did look in your gallery prior to posting and saw Kirkham Shelby Aluminum leaf car and assumed it was KMPS 030. Is this a 7000 series Shelby? Yours or do you just have pics of it?

I have owned both (427/289), I am a big fan of the leaf spring cars. Ask Rick Lee how hard it was for his 427 with all alum suspension KMP to keep up

The nicest Cobra I've ever had the privilege to drive is Ned Scudder's AC 289, COX 6111.
The car has plenty of power, handles like a dream, looks incredible, and you can actually hear your passenger speaking to you. The perfect blend of the Mark III body and chassis and the small block engine. So if I ever get around to having a modern reliable Cobra, it will probably be one of the Kirkham Mark III style cars with a small block,
or the FIA style with the coil spring suspension.

Those of us with "street style" 427 coil spring cars are certainly outliers in the Cobra replica world that lives and breathes S/Cs. And those with small blocks in 427 street cars are fewer still. Yet, these cars have a lot to offer in appearance, handling and general usability. There may be a penalty on resale but I'm willing to put up with that when it happens (in the distant future, I hope).

"Street is Neat"! We got our car to drive. We do Rally's and a lot of cruising. It is nice to be able to hold a conversation. The rear exhaust is still quite loud, it is just behind you. We went through a highway overpass tunnel the other day at 6000- 6500 rpms in third yesterday and the sound was glorious and really LOUD. So much fun.
The one advantage to sidepipes is they act like stone deflectors for the rear fenders. LOL

You can find them at Kirkham starting at $44,995. Add $995 for the optional leaf spring suspension.

I dont think the KIrkhams will build a leaf spring cut back door 289 FIA .at
any price. If you can get a price for a SS chassis With Aluminium
doors ,hood ,& trunk ,in a leaf spring car with delivery date call me!

Richard,

These guys are nuts thinking they can get $ 165K for a CSX 7000 car......and that probably why it keeps coming up on Ebay. I saw a fiberglass CSX 7000 with 289 and leaf spring for sale for $ 85K a month or so ago and last fall a CSX 7000 leaf spring car with stack fuel injection sold at Russo and Steel for $ 95K and cars are softing up fast right now. Heck I'd buy the Kirkham on Ebay with the twin paxtons for $ 119K before that..........

Regardless of the car being on e-bay before or not, it seems like alot of money for the Shelby name.

You should call them. They can build almost anything. See the billet Cobra Skunkworks thread.

All their cars have aluminum doors, trunk and hood and they have a SS chassis option. They have a leaf spring car too. Give them a ring.

Here is response from Tom Kirkham on how many leaf spring cars they built.....

I think we have made about 60 leaf spring cars. A good chunk of these cars are in Europe.
