Default Superformance Rear End Casting Thickness

Does Any One Know How Thick The Bottom Of The Casting In A Superformance Rear End Is I Thought Of Drilling A Small Hole And Tappening It For A 3/8" Pipe Plug So You Can Drain The Oil Out With Little Of Ease I Would Drill The Hole To The Right Side Of The Ring Gear It Would Make It Easy To Maintain

Len,

There's a SCOF tech tip on this topic. If you haven't joined SCOF already, check it out.

I can't remember how an IRS is setup....does it use the rearend housing cover as a mounting point?

If not, you could install an aftermarket cover/girdle. They all have drain plugs in them.

The answer to the first question is Yes. I added this nice brace from Steeda, as the cover can be cracked if subjected to lots of torque. I didn't want to take any chances.

Lensjade,

It's pretty thick. Not sure exactly, but around 3/4" to an 1".

Dean,

Thats a nice addition. I don't remember seeing or reading about the brace or fix. Just the problem.

Default Brace

I Have That Type Of Brace Set Up On My Car So I Could Not Use An Aftermarket Cover If It Is That Thisk I Will Drill A Small Hole And Tap It No Problem To Do It
