Ratsnst1,
There's no way you deserved that ticket. We couldn't have been doing more than 30 mph when that CHP passed. As I recall, Scott was even stuck behind a slow moving car. Now, that's not to say we didn't deserve a ticket at a lot of other places. Sorry you got nailed.

Right there on that frontage road (in Aptos?) just before we got back on Hwy 1 North.

Geez.
I may have let the mph's slip north of the limit for a moment or two sometime during the ride but, like you said, we definitely weren't speeding anywhere near there.
I wonder iif he rolled that stop sign in the town center? I'm sure he'll post the sorry tale later.

wow Chuck....you do quick work. Nice job as usual. It was nice to see the gang again.
I did my best to follow the pack, but leaving the starting gate late with my not so sure footed pony made me decide to take a right at HWY 1 instead of the planned route. Overall, a pretty drive with some fog patches here and there.
Sorry to hear that one of you got picked off by the CHP. What a bummer.

Sorry to hear about the ticket ... that stinks.
For me, a great ride ... and a bit of an unexpected adventure ...
As I was driving to the meeting point in my TR6, and about a mile from getting there, the car just died !?! I coasted off the main road to a side street and came to a stop in front of a house. Silence.
Well ... a 34 year British car, what do you expect
Must be fuel or fire. So decided to check the electrical first, no loose wires, pulled the distributor cap, rotor turns with motor.
Start looking around the fuel pump, notice a nice shiny pin sticking out ... bingo! Won't go back in, so I pulled it the rest of the way out and notice that there is a retaining ring missing on the other end. It's the pivot pin for the fuel pump lever. I try pushing it back in again, it just won't go.
I had about 15 minutes to try and fix it, or just walk the rest of the way and meet up with the guys. Put the pin in my pocket, lowered the hood and stared walking. Had not gone far when I heard a Cobra coming ... It was Greg and his son Josh, told him what was up. Gregg dropped off his son and came back to give me a ride the rest of the way.
Once at the meeting point, got a ride with Dave in his Krikham up to Alice's Restaurant, that was fun! Beautiful car, awesome motor ... wow. Great turn out, probably a dozen Cobras, and a couple of very nice vintage Mustangs.
After breakfast, most of the bunch continued the drive out to the coast, then home. I caught a ride back down the mountain with Steve in his AMG, back to the TR. With Steve's help we decided to try and get the pin back in and with some fiddling after taking the fuel pump off the block, got the pin back in. The car started right up and I made it home!
That in a nutshell is what I like most about Club Cobra. The cars are very cool, no doubt about that. But the other part, is the people, and that's what really counts. Next time, I owe you guys breakfast ... thanks for helping me out !

Was that a CHP or Capitola police?
Man that was by far one of the better drives I've been on. Thanks from prodding my ass to get up so early! I racked up 129 miles from the 76' station to my house (stopped by an In-n-Out).
Good pictures; mine are about the same. I say the Sherrif know's a good thing when he see's it!

The hwy patrol said we were doing 50 when he passed us thrue town there, he was driving the opposite direction I sware on the bible I wasnt dong over 30 thrue there, when I argued about it, I said theres just now eefn way I was going 50 in a 25, so he gave me a ticket for 35 in a 25, the bad thing is I have a commercial drivers license, no traffic school for me. I had a great time, but during that whole outing with you guys, especially when we left the breakfast place, I thought wow , This is a ticket in the making, and I got caught, in a place I wasnt haulen ass, one thing I will say is you guys are damm lucky that a hwy patrol didnt see you at any time, after we hit hwy 1.

Then we see in the distance some lights on and a car pulled over. Glad you were safe chuck and Great pictures!!

Nice pics, Greg. I'm still in awe of how accurate you are shooting backwards while driving through corners.
The only time I can pass Scott is when he is stuck behind a slow moving minvan and doesn't see me coming.

I just have dups of Chuck's photos so I'll just ad-lib what I think the Sheriff was thinking:
Of course I could be wrong...
Robert, again, sorry you got the ticket but I will say your SPF was pretty well customized! But I'm still just amazed how low your engine and bellhousing sits off the ground!

Unless they've made some radical changes since #237 was built, I don't think that's a Superformance.

Robert - someone should have warned you about going for a drive with Chris, Scott and Greg - even if you are the slowest guy - and that's without throwing in Dave and Chuck for good measure. Sorry for your loss. Tom

Thanks you guys, my car is not a spf, it has a shell valley frame , then I built everything around it, ya the bell housing and oil pan are just under 3 inches, kinda low.

Not sure why the CHP stopped Rod to give him a ticket. I remember passing him in town. We might have been 5 over if that. That sure sucks!! I really don't remember driving fast at all that day!
Nice pics everyone! I really like the ones of Toms car from the drive home from Reno when he got a ticket.
Need to get the cars cleaned up for this Thursday's car show!!

I received a ticket from a CHP a week ago in Paseo Robles. The fellow told me he was following me for eight miles. No way. I was speeding but 75 (seven two when he pulled me over) he claimed eighty five . I think the CHP is trying to help make up for budget shortfalls. Too bad some want to be so petty.

Very bad luck, indeed. It easily could have been any of us, but Rob really showed his club spirit by driving rear guard and taking the hit on his first cruise. In appreciation, I would like to place his name in nomination for club president.
