SPF 2734 Patrolling the Skies over Los Gatos...
SPF 2734 is very flyable and is performing really well.
I used it as the Saturday night car (take wife out to dinner etc) to various destinations about the south-bay tonight.
Still have a few minor details to revise and I have to figure out reverse lights for this thing or I am sure I will get rear swiped / taken out by a speeding SUV.
Fuel Maps need some detail work and tuning, but very , very close to production complete.
Cant wait for our next Bajis Run.

Good news, Steve! I think the plan is for breakfast at Baji's next weekend. If so, I'm very much looking forward to see you and your SPF. Also, you are eitehr very brave or have a very loving wife (or both), because it was not warm last night... Also, can you elaborate on why you need reverse lites?

Reverse Lights :
I was in the garage at Santana Row on a Saturday night and could not back out of a parking space without having kristin blocking traffic. people flying by in their 'posh-spice-mobiles. --ugh...
We also went to a friends house in LG and the outside was soooo dark and with the limited visibility driving at night up there backup lights would keep me from damaging anything. --also made me think of footwell lights.
I have a set of backups on the way, -- I figured out a mount I think. same reverse lights used on the 1968 911.
It is a simple mod; Near your passenger side (US) rear tail lamp assembly on the inside of the trunk there is a set of wires that plugs into the tail lamps and such.
In that bundle of wires, you will find a "Black wire with a white stripe" with a single female 1/4" socket. that is the 12V+ reverse light wire for the lamps. There is a grommet down there below the tail lamp towards the fender --to feed the proposed backup light harness to the underside of the car.
Other End: under the transmission tunnel also on the passenger side, there is a pair of 2 wire female connectors;
1. for the reverse light switch (also black and white wires)
2. for the neutral safety switch (note this connector will have a brown jumper inserted.)
Once completed , I will do a little writeup and post it somewhere here.
The car is good to show interested friends, but i still need to clean up some zip ties and such from the install, as this was quite the R&D bird.
-- and with me only having an R&D staff of 2. (me and my cat...)
and with undercar exh this think is almost civilized.
Steve

Reverse lights for SPF
In Australia we are required to have these. My car was fitted with a great big spot light attached to the body beneath the bumper. It looked like cr*p. I had it pulled off and had the reverse lights wired through to the indicators.

the lights i chose should look like they are supposed to be there.
Hella part # 2ZR 001 409-071.
HELLA Rückfahr-Scheinwerfer
116x55mm Lichtaustritt, Kunststoff, chrom,
mit M8 Befestigungsschraube
found some made by Hella on ebay, but they look like they are available from VW parts houses as 67-69 ghia backup lights.

Steve, how are you planning on installing them? Under the back Valance area, or mounted to your Nudge Bars?
