Weather looks to be a bit more driving friendly this Saturday. Anyone up for breakfast somewhere and a drive??

My Kirkham is out of action again. Pulled two rocker shaft mounting studs on left side. Seems previous owner (or his builder) used a threaded iron plug to re-insert studs into the head. Only problem is, the plugs only engaged 3 or 4 threads and they pulled out. Good news.....I have the name of a great flatbed tow service in the South Bay! Car is at T.O.E. Performance in Suisun City. Bad news may be that engine has to be pulled again to fix heads.

Dave!! What were the symptoms? Did you notice a problem on the way home from Alice's on Saturday?

Sorry to hear about that Dave. Let's hope for a quick return to the road.

I was in the left lane right after Lexington when I heard a rocker let go. Exhaust note change to annoying blap, blap sound. I took it easy going home. When I heard about the shoddy repair job, I was kinda pissed...oh well. If we can't figure out a way to replace the studs, we'll have to pull the engine to pull the heads. I may have an extra Corral pass for Infineon, I'm sure they won't want a Z06 mixed in with all the Ford iron.

Fortunately it happened close to home and you weren't stranded. Hopefully they can repair it without pulling the motor and get you back on the road soon.

Dave,

Sorry to hear about the heads. It was a great ride up until then.

Scott,

I am planning on going up to Rock House if you're interested in a drive to Livermore.

You bet! I'm cruising up the A1A to Delray Beach and having b'fast somewhere on Atlantic Ave. Then up the coast to West Palm and back home.

It's not as much fun as being out with you guys, but any wheel time is not too bad.

I'd join you guys, but I'd have to leave at 5:50 am and I just can't torture the neighbors that much.

Maybe I should try coasting down the hill to the industrial area near my house....then fire it up.

Chuck,

Good to hear from you! Take some pics so we can see what your run looks like.

Scott,

How about 6:40 at Starbucks. I try to let the neighbors sleep until 6:30 on Saturdays. I was taking to my neighbor the other day and he said last Saturday it shook his whole house when I started up.

That was really fast. You must have not had to pull the engine, which is fantastic news.

Dave,

That's amazing ... did they putter a zipper on the motor to get out and back in again so fast !!?!

No engine removal, Tony Oddo of T.O.E. Performance, replace 3 thread inserts in the heads and replace a broken rocker shaft. Could have been real bad, but luckily I was close to home. He used a product called Timeserts...really pretty amazing fix. The major automotive manufacturers use them. He put hotter plugs in it and it just screams.

It's nice to have an engine builder drive and tweak your engine.
